1. Congratulations!
There is a great gnashing of teeth here at DU. A school from Texas wins, and you can feel the hate flow. I'm loving it, and again, congratulations!

4. Congratulations El Supremo
I thought Wisconsin's play calling left a lot to be desired, and blowing those TOs was just stupid. TCU lost just about every stat, but the scoreboard is all that matters. Thanks to them for completing the Big Ten's winless day too...

Btw, the NC will be decided in 9 days from now. TCU will just have to be content with a consolation prize..

6. Wisconsin ran far more offensive plays
In fact Wisconsin had 46 rushes while TCU had 49 total plays. So while Wisconsin had more yards, TCU had a 6.2 average gain per play while Wisconsin had 5.8. Wisconsin dominated them in rushing department but TCU beat them in the passing department with a 9.4 YPA to Wisconsin's 7.6 YPA.

7. So undefeated TCU will play the undefeated winner of that game in Glendale?
I didn't know that!

20. If TCU aren't the national champions, then we should be able to point to the game they lost
that resulted in their elimination. That's how real championships work. They're won and lost on the field of play.

10. Did you see Hayden Fry between the 3rd & 4th quarters?
He was wearing a big Texas cowboy hat.

Got some sort of award. Missed what it was.

8. The problem is...........
you beat a Big 10 team by 2 points that lost to Michigan State who lost to the 4th best team in the SEC West by 42 points.

I was pulling for your guys though. They play with a lot of heart.

27. Crock of shit?
Wisconsin didn't lose to Michigan State, who lost to Alabama 49-7? Alabama didn't finish behind Auburn, Arkansas, and LSU in the SEC West? The Big Ten Co-Champions didn't lose to the 4th best team in the SEC West? None of that happened?

28. Crock of shit indeed
Alabama didn't lose to South Carolina who got beat by the putrid 2nd place ACC team in Florida State in their bowl game? Also that same South Carolina team who lost to 6-6 Kentucky? Who lost to 4-8 Ole Miss who lost to FCS Jacksonville State?

A very bad attempt to discredit what TCU did..its sad people like you cant accept that a non-BCS team can win...

Oh wait didnt Alabama lose to Utah a few years ago in the Sugar Bowl..

Now i understand why you are trying so hard to discredit the smaller conference teams :spank:

13. TCU makes a great case for a plus one playoff
Edited on Sat Jan-01-11 09:19 PM by TZ
It wouldn't be terribly hard to add ONE more game where TCU played the winner of Auburn-Oregon would it?
On edit: and with the horrible showing of the Big Ten today, lets say a narrow win, good as it was, does not lead one to think they deserve any sort of "national champion" talk though

17. When they beat the big 10 champ, it's hard to argue they didn't belong there.
Unless you want to argue that Stanford should have been there instead, and TCU should have been in some other BCS bowl.

You're Geddy Lee reference helped me remember this thread--- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=215x167578 for some reason.

I was jokingly repeating what the OP of that thread said.

19. Nice!
I actually wasn't sure of all the ins-and-outs of the selection, and wasn't aware that the Rose Bowl was required to pick TCU. I thought Stanford would have ended up in the Rose and TCU would have played Arkansas or VA Tech.

21. Boise State is better than TCU
And definitely would beat them again. But Boise didn't necessarily match up as well against Wisconsin, if the kicker had made the FG against Nevada. Boise is not as disruptive on defense.

Regardless, they were two terrific teams and it's mega mind boggling that many fans tried to dismiss them as second tier. That would be true in most seasons, and certainly fit cupcake Hawaii in 2007, but not this year or last season.

If Boise State and TCU had been unleashed upon others the past two years, instead of forced to play each other in bowls two seasons in a row, the country reluctantly would have recognized how special they were.
