If the Seahawks beat the Bears, they get home field for the NFC Championship Game |
|
Chew on that for a while.

2. It won't take me long to chew |

Seattle is #4 seed while Green Bay is a #6. Shouldn't of been a surprise the way it is set up. Arizona got home field in the NFC Championship game a couple years ago as a #4 seed facing the #6 seed Philadelphia. Philly was 11-6-1 while Arizona was 11-7 at the time the game started.

3. The other game isn't quite over yet |
|
While I'm pulling for the Pack, in no way am I going to count my chickens before they hatch. (What I'm saying is don't freakin' jinx it!) GB scored 28 points in the 2nd quarter. ATL can score 21 in the 4th. Let's wait until the 4th quarter ends before we put GB in the conference championship.

Except it's doubtful that the Seahawks have anything resembling a chance. And the Mighty Green Bay Packers are smokin' hot right now and will destroy anyone who stands in their path, be it Seattle or Chicago. GO PACK GO!

8. I think the first quarter is the difference in the game |
|
Seattle on their second possession in the first quarter, down by 7 were at the opponent's 40 and it was 4 & 1 and they punted. I thought that was a mistake, especially considering it was so close to the dead zone, where field goals and punts are bad options. Meanwhile on Chicago's drive they went for it on 4th & 1 inside the 10, which was riskier play because they could of got 3 points. It paid off for Chicago and they got a two TD lead.
When you're a true underdog such as Seattle you need to take more risks to increase your chances of winning(also increases your chances of being blown out). Chicago did and it paid off.
However 21 points isn't too far to come back from. Seattle still has plenty of time.

9. I agree, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to work in the Denny Green quote. |
|
Especially since he was playing the Bears that game.

I know what you mean. I wanted to share my thoughts as soon as Carroll sent out the punting unit but there wasn't an actual game thread where I could share it. Your post gave me the opportunity so that is why I responded to you. :)

It is winter, outside, in Chicago, in January.

The game next week has the potential to be very good. I think the Packers are more dangerous and convincing than the bears. It should be memorable.

That's the last piece of the puzzle for next week. The Super Bowl will have the biggest teams in the NFL. Steelers, Pats-Jets, Bears, Packers. The Packers beat the Pats back in the 90's. Packers-Steelers would be too much yellow. :D
