Zenyatta crowned Horse of the Year

At last night's eclipse awards, Zenyatta was awarded the Horse of the Year and Blame was Older Male champion. I think they got it right
this year.

Wow, 2 years in a row a filly named HOTY. Zenyatta ranks 3rd in my personal list of Fillies I've seen perform live

3. Zenyatta
2. Personal Ensign
1. The fastest horse--@5 to 9 furlongs--Colt OR Filly-- who ever set hooves on a track IMO...

Lucien Laurin, Secretariat's trainer, said this quote to the press "As God as my witness, she may even be better than Secretariat." Ruffian was undefeated in her first ten races, covering distances from 5.5 furlongs (1.1 km) to 1.5 miles (2.4 km) with an average winning margin of 8 1/3 lengths. She won her maiden race in record time and by 15 lengths. She was on lead at every point of call in every race she ever ran. She set a new stakes record in each of the eight stakes races which she won. She had also equaled two track records. If she didn't set track or stakes record, she equaled them. Ruffian's jockey Jacinto Vasquez was asked in an interview was it hard to get in the lead at the beginning of races? He replied "No, Ruffian sets her own pace and gets there on her own, even with other jockeys getting their fillies to try and push and knock her". That would explain why she always had such slow starts.

3. They definitely got it right
And it was a riot to sample some of the major racing forums the past few days, with the Zenyatta detractors certain she would be denied.

I seem to be more skilled at forecasting the voting than the race results these days.
