Buckeyes Win Outright Big Ten Title

Ohio State won the outright Big Ten title as Iowa defeated Purdue, 67-65, on Saturday. The Buckeyes had clinched at least a share of the conference championship on Tuesday with an 82-61 victory against Penn State.

The Big Ten crown is the team’s second consecutive, fourth in the last seven years and 19th overall. Head Coach Thad Matta becomes just the fourth coach in conference history to win at least four Big Ten titles in his first seven years at the helm.

Ohio State will have the No. 1 seed in the 2011 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, which will be held March 10-13 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
