Latest scandal proves Jim Tressel's image is far from reality

1. Hmmm. He doesn't list his college in his bio.

He covered for the Columbus Dispatch college football/basketball as a beat writer (Ohio University and MAC, 1984-85); Television-Radio Critic (1985-87); and police/courts reporter (1987-89). He has covered Penn State football and basketball for more than 20 years with the "Patriot Network". Doesn't exactly strike me as an Ohio State supporter to begin with.

2. Well, there is this

"But I've never liked this man being a figurehead of my alma mater. I was fairly certain something like this would happen eventually."

One would assume he doesn't care for his alma mater being dragged through the mud no matter what his level of support is. Which is why I hate Chris Webber for what he did to Michigan.

3. Did Tressel really say he didn't know who to tell? REALLY?

I didn't catch much of Tressel's actually comments, but did he really think saying such a gawd awful stupid thing would fool ANYONE?

Personally, is suspected something was pretty shady with "St. Jim" when I heard that he let them play in the Sugar Bowl in return for them promising to return to Ohio St. next year.

4. Yes, yes he did say that.

Tressel's been slicker than a greased pig ever since he got to OSU. I knew from the beginning the wholesome sweater vest, simple man persona was a sham. But he beats Michigan regularly and that's what they care about down there.

How I long for the days of Bo and Woody.

5. He generally affects a lack of knowledge

Didn't read the reports, doesn't check criminal records for his recruits, didn't know who to tell, didn't know (ducking from Mad here!!!!) that Robert Reynolds had stepped on the Wisconsin QB's neck.....his stock response is, "well, I don't know anything about that".

At some point, shouldn't someone point out to him that he should pay more attention?
