What's the sport of choice out there? Water Polo? I mean, why bother??

1. I'm only counting 10
Are you thinking of Northern Colorado? If so, they are in Greeley which is east of the Rockies. If not, I must be missing somebody though I recounted a lot.

5. I'll say
the east is much more heavily populated while the west is more spread out. You also have more universities and they are all closer together. That will probably explain why there are more teams. Plus west of the Rockies is a small area compared to the area east of it. Maybe divide it exactly in the middle but there are probably be more teams to the east because of higher populations and it is more closely together. I mean go to the standings page, you'll see more conferences and teams on the eastern side(especially when it comes to the big conferences).

Just a theory I guess. I personally think the west is in better shape last year. The Pac-10 is sending more teams and the conference seemed better from top-to-bottom with the exceptions of Arizona State(who was alright last season) and Oregon State. Plus San Diego State and BYU(not sure how good they are without Davies) seem to be solid west teams that were absent last season. YMMV of course. :)

3. And not a single one is from Northern California
(nice choke job, St. Mary's :grr: )

And to think, sportscasters here used to fill an extra minute of airtime with out-of-town hockey scores, delivered satirically, back before the Sharks arrived.

6. East Coast Bias..
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 08:59 AM by Upton
and the Pac-10 has won more NCAA championships than any other conference. So, there are a lot of sports of choice. Last year though it was football...as 2 out of the top 4 teams in the final rankings were from the Pac-10. Meanwhile, your pathetic and crooked Big 10 once again choked it up big time..the New Year's Day massacre leading the way to another losing bowl season.

Btw, Condem..the Big 10 has had only 1 winning bowl season since 2002..when is that big turnaround going to come about you keep predicting? LOL, no wonder you're crowing about basketball..you've got nothing else..

You've got the whining Colorado Buffalos and Utah on the way. Much needed help, I'd say!!

9. Buffs were ripped off..
I think you'll even admit that. Beat 6 teams in the RPI top 50, went 4-4 against ranked teams, including beating #5 seed K-State 3 times.

Yep, CU, if they didn't before, now knows what East Coast bias is all about. They'll be welcomed by their new Pac-10 brothers and fellow sufferers of eastern prejudice with open arms.

11. Somebody bitches every year, Upton.
And if you expand it to 128 teams the 129th ranked team would be bitching.

15. 6-5
Edited on Fri Mar-18-11 11:06 PM by JonLP24
If we're counting Northern Colorado. 6-4 if we're going with strictly west of the Rockies. USC lost to VCU before the first round. (They are counted in the 5)

(This is provided Washington holds on. If they lose then 5-6)

19. OK, then.
The Huskies took it, so I'm good with any argument. The western percentage of victories, at this point, is tops, even if one considers the Rockies as the cut off.

18. The West tends to have fewer but larger schools
mainly state schools. There's no equivalent, for instance, of the MAAC, composed of Catholic colleges from the NYC area plus a couple from upstate, that gets an automatic bid. By contrast, the WCC, also with mostly Catholic schools, covers the entire West from Spokane to San Diego.

25. The east coast is loaded with traditional basketball schools.
Edited on Sat Mar-19-11 11:34 PM by Renew Deal
Most of the old Big East, the best of the ACC. That's a lot of talent just in those schools.

Just 8 of the past champions are from the west, and that's not counting the TX and OK teams. Also, most of those are in the 40's, 50's, etc. The last west team to win it all? 1997 Arizona.
