1. Because...
We aren't East Coast blowhards? Too polite and easy to be self-defeatist, I guess.

7. St. Johns, Georgetown, and Nova all had injury problems at the end.

Pittsburgh hasn't been playing well towards the end. Marquette, Syracuse, and UCONN have looked good up to this point. I think 7 of the 11 teams in the tournament made it to the second round. That's pretty good.

10. They should have - they had 9 teams seeded 6th or higher
So they drew mostly auto-bid champs from lower conferences. And still managed to lose a few of those.

12. I agree
Eleven teams made the big dance. Only one, Marquette, made it to the Sweet 16.

15. Two: UConn
though it should be noted that, like Marquette, the Huskies beat another Big East team (Cincinnati) in order to advance.

13. Well clearly Florida State and Virginia Commonwealth are West Coast powerhouses
Can we stop with the idiotic East Coast Bias crap? I've heard more than my share about the Big Ten here in the East and outside of Ohio State, they apparantly are pretty lousy too. Every year at least one conference plays like shit in the tournament or post season. And Upton being a PAC-10 fan ought to remember that from the vomitous bowl season they had last year. Since the Big East had the most teams in the tourney, I'm thinking having a lot of teams lose is normal. But fuck statistics, bias is so easy to scream.

14. Wait just a minute...
The Pac-10 went .500..with wins by Stanford in the Orange and UW over Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl. And an appearance by Oregon in the NC game. In the final rankings 2 of the top 4 clubs were from the leader in NCAA championships..the Pac-10. I'd hardly call that "vomitous"..

16. Hogwash.
http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindducksbeat/2010/12/oregon_football_no_sympathy_fo.html

"According to sports analyst Jeff Sagarin, the Pac-10 owns the eight toughest schedules in the nation this season (in order): Washington, Washington State, Oregon State, UCLA, California, USC, Arizona State and Stanford. Stoops' Wildcats are at No. 11, and Kelly's Ducks are at No. 19."

And, as noted above, they were 2-2 in bowl games.

Eastern bias is not a phantom.

17. "East Coast bias" in sports ranks up there with "liberal media" complaints
It's hard to take people seriously when they scream either of these.

18. It's hard to take someone seriously, when they ignore the obvious.
The east coast media bias has been ludicrously obvious my entire life.
