Stuart Holden (Bolton/USA midfielder) to miss 6 months with knee injury
That means he's out of the US side for the CONCACAF Gold Cup

Poor guy has no luck at all prior to international tournaments...he got his leg broken in the run up to the World Cup, and now this.

The Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden is expected to miss the next six months with a knee injury. The 25-year-old was hurt in a challenge with Manchester United's Jonny Evans in the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday, which saw the home defender sent off.

Evans has subsequently called Holden to wish him well with his rehabilition, according to a post on the player's Twitter feed.

"Just had a sincere phone call from Jonny Evans wishing me the best in my recovery, def wasn't intentional, just unfortunate part of the game," wrote Holden.

The injury means the United States international will take no further part in the season, including the FA Cup semi-final against Stoke City at Wembley on 17 April. He will also be unavailable for the US at this summer's Gold Cup.

One more reason to hate ManUre (I know it was not an intentional injury, but still, any reason to hate on ManUre works for me).

1. Don't bring Manchester United Football Club into this...
Please do not even start. Johnny Evans made a harsh tackle. There was no malice or intent. For his actions Evans saw a straight red and will serve a 3 game ban. I can name at least one player on each of the 20 EPL teams that have done similar tackles in the past 12 months.

Very unfortunate for the American International, but it is part of the game.

Say what you will about Manchester United Football Club, come May we will have at least 2 trophies in the cabinet. For 5 quid we will let you see them.

Once again the USMNT is going into an international tournament without our best midfielder (well, we get to bring our crap manager, so it evens out). I reserve the right to be pissed at whoever I want for that.

Edited to add: Oh, and I laughed my ass off when Luis Suarez completely owned ManUre at Anfield.

3. Then be mad at the player for not getting out of the way...

First I misread your first post (when you said it wasn't Manchester United's fault), thus I apologize.

Second, yep you have the right...but just b/c you have the right doesn't mean your logic is sound. It was a legit tackle, meaning there was no malice. Johnny Evans has just been taking too many lessons from Paul Scholes on tackling.

Unfortunately the young American could not get out of the way...same thing has happened to Rafael, Valencia, Rooney, and Nani (to a lesser extent with Nani) in the past few seasons. The first three mentioned all went down with a broken bone due to a poor challenge.

Yes Suarez did do a number on United, as well as the Blackcats over the weekend. Liverpool were very fortunate to acquire him and those in the KOP will forget Torres soon enough. I wished United would have signed Suarez about 3 years ago, instead of Berba.

Liverpool got one game on us this year...big whoopie doooo, who will remember that goal come May when United lifts #19? Only those in Scousser land, it will be all they have to relish during a harsh year w/o any European football.
