The Big East is the Beast! Five teams through to the Sweet 16!
On the women's side, that is...I'm assuming UCONN's 25 point lead holds over the next 4 minutes, Louisville's 9 point leads over the next 50 seconds (a #7 beating #2 Xavier) and Georgetown's 18 point lead last the next 7 minutes...chance for 2 more teams later this evening...bringing the total to 7 (ND and DePaul got through yesterday).

1. ASU got blasted in the first round
So I haven't been paying attention. I wish the Women's tourney was on CBS or TBS, channels I get. Anyways, thanks for the update. :)

2. Got some stats for you...
the last team to beat UConn, other than Stanford, who has not only beaten the Lady Huskies twice but led them at HT in last year's NC game, was Rutgers on Feb 5, 2007. According to my calculations, if not for the Cardinal, the UConn women would currently be riding a winning streak of 126 in a row....

However, as we all know, according to ESPN and certain East Coast biased UConn fans, Trish VanDerveer's team doesn't even belong on the same court. :eyes:

Oh, and the Stanford women now have a 63 game home winning streak of their own..

3. Yeah, during that 90 game streak UCONN only beat Stanford 3 times...
...yeah, 3 times...it's not like they didn't play at all other than those 2 games.

4. I see so mighy "unbeatable" UConn went only 3-2
Edited on Tue Mar-22-11 09:08 PM by Upton
during that time against a school that ESPN treated, in last year's NC game, like nothing more than a bunch of crack addicted streetwalkers in tennis shoes...

UConn has lost 3 games since 2-07, two of them to Stanford..I would ask just when is the Stanford women's program going to get the respect they deserve from the East Coast biased media, but thankfully they took matters into their own hands by ending the UConn women's win streak..

6. Sure they get respect now..
Actually, I thought they had it previously until last year's NC. Which was treated by ESPN as a coronation, not a game. And when things didn't go UConn's way at first, every excuse in the book came flying out as to why they were losing. Virtually no credit at all was given to the Stanford women...that's a lack of respect.

7. If Stanford wins it, then they'll get respect...they havent won it all
since 1982 I think...that's a long time...the media focuses on more recent winners...they do that in all sports.

9. 2008 they should have won...after playing well against UCONN
they played flat against Pat Summit's Satan-sponsored team.

11. Who's Trish VanDerveer?
Tara VanDerveer's team does indeed belong on the same court. Just not cutting down any nets. :-)

Flashback: After the Huskies squeaked by the Cardinal 97-60 :sarcasm: in the national semifinal that led to their historic win over Satan Herself Tennessee in 1995, VanDerveer tried to blame the loss on some of her star players having the flu! That's right, Tara, without that you might have been able to stay within 20. I then bestowed upon her the nickname "Whine Country". :P
