Great Stat re: the Yankees |
|
Yankees cleanup hitters (257 ABs): 4 HR AL Pitchers (225 ABs): 3 HR
:wow:
And, for the sake of added laughter, Tampa Bay cleanup hitters (253 ABs): 1 HR
(I'd rather this not devolve into another Yankees suck thread. :) )

The Yanks may be turning it on.
The funny thing about that stat is that whenever a player moves out of the cleanup spot, he goes on a tear. Its really a fluky stat right now.

I just like to tease and I feel I should be able to since I think the Yankees have more world series championships in my life than the Orioles have winning seasons, so I am bitter and yes resentful but seriously its funny as hell, though Sosa isnt exactly the model of a cleanup hitter either but he warmed up lately and he better be warm tonight since I leave for Baltimore in a few hours.

Have fun at the game. I'm going to the Yanks-O's game at Camden Yards on the 28th.

Thanks, I havent been in a few years. I am gonna be trying to go to RFK too sometime maybe in July. Anyhow I never would have thought that the Orioles would be 13 games above 500 on my last day of high school, never ever, theyve been very medicore-sucky since I left elementary school.

I agree, though - the stat isn't necessarily indicative of anything really. It's just one of those oddities unique to baseball.

11. When they go on a tear like they did in May |
|
and we go on a whatever the opposite of tear is like what happened last August, I'll fear the bombers instead, I'll be amazed that they're not where we are right now.

14. That is a bizarre stat |
|
I'm a Red Sox fan but I have seen a number of Yankees games this year since I live in the battleground state of CT. I've been surprised at the people that Torre has had in the cleanup spot, especially Matsui when he was slumping so badly.
