what is with this rumour that Selig wants the DH in the National League? |
|
anyone else hear about this? I just heard it on espn but at the tail end.
If this happens, the 4th horseman is truly upon us.

1. I have mixed feelings about this |
|
On one hand, I think it screws up strategy and tradition.
On the other, it seems as though some pitchers take pride in swinging the bat like six year olds. Perhaps all pitchers should be forced to take two weeks of BP in the spring.
Mookie, who batted better from the left side.

4. I hear what you're saying |
|
but the fact that pitchers don't hit well, imho, is what gives NL games their drama. When to use relief, who to bring in depending on the situation....
I agree with you about them needing more bp, but it seems harder for starters, who only play every 5th game, to get in a groove.
I don't know. I've always disliked the DH.

2. I'm a big Baseball guy but I really can't get worked up over the DH |
|
Use it or don't use it, I'll be fine either way.
I think it's much more likely that the National League is forced to accept it before the American League is forced to give it up. The Players Union will see to that.
Course I've been an American League guy my whole life...

3. I haven't heard about this |
|
but I think it would be a terrible idea even though I'm an American League fan. Now that we have inter-league play the DH is what helps keep the leagues separate and diametrically opposed to each other. It's good for baseball to have differences between the two leagues.

5. And on a tangent to what you've said... |
|
recently I heard the suggestion that for interleague play, the DH rule should be that of the visiting team. That way the fan could see how the other half lives in person rather than just on TV.

7. He's not quite as bad as Gary Betmann |
|
But yes, he IS an ass.
And every Washington Nationals fan that goes through the turnstile or buys a Nats hat is sticking a finger into the eye of Selig and Angelos.

pitchers hitting is awful. Automatic outs at the bottom of the lineup is no fun.

9. Can't see it happening. |
|
I don't think that the National league would let it happen. I really don't. It just would go against the grain of what the National League has always done.
