Why are there no NBA/NHL playoff threads?
Could it be because nothing matters until the finals?

2. It's just that the NBA and NHL aren't as popular among big posters here
Maybe it seems like nothing matters before the finals in the NBA, but Stanley Cup playoff history is full of gigantic first-round upsets. Last year was especially crazy.

3. Wings are up 2-0
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 12:05 PM by 1gobluedem
A Phoenix player tried to rip off Johann Franzen's face yesterday but he just got stitched up and came back on the ice -- tough as nails. And Pavel Datsyuk (sp?) has been amazing.

Go Wings! I hope they hammer the Coyotes at home tomorrow.

Edited for typo.

4. He was already losing his balance
when Doan hit him. That is why he went head first hit to the boards. I don't think it was anything malicious, players hit players near the boards all the time.

5. Yeah, there wasn't much to it
Doan just gave him a shove after he was already starting to go down. There was no penalty and nobody seemed to take offense at the time. It was probably a somewhat dangerous play but he wasn't really trying to rip Franzen's head off - he was just making sure to take him out of the play.

6. Just a bit of an exaggeration there.
No one tried to rip his face off, and the hit wasn't even dirty. Franzen was wiping out on his own right before the hit, which is why he hit the boards so awkwardly. Not even remotely a dirty play, or someone trying to rip his face off.

7. Can only speak about the NHL, but it's been a somewhat low key start to the playoffs.
I noticed a little more heat in yesterday's games, so things are picking up. Not a lot to talk about 2 games in.

8. Maybe because the best teams are in "flyover" country
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 06:15 PM by Bluzmann57
The Bulls for instance. They are not (yet) one of the so called "glamour" teams of the star driven NBA. They are a true team, led by Derrick Rose, who is the MVP and best player in the league at this time. But Joachim Noah, Luol Deng, and many others are major contributors. Watch 'em when they advance past the second round. That's likely the only time they'll be on prime time.
