The conservative organization Goldwater Institute was trying to stop a Chicago businessman from buying the team because Glendale proposed a lot of money in a deal. Then the Chicago businessman offered to cover the shortfalls from parking revenues but the Goldwater Institute still considers the deal illegal.

The Coyotes never really showed up. First and only sweep of Round 1. Plus, the Wings were without Zetterberg.

8. I heard that Phoenix has about three weeks to do something or the team is gone. |

No link, just something heard on the grapevine, but basically the other owners do not want to support the team next year, and want this thing settled before the Cup finals.
Kind of sucks, you're just getting into the sport and your team probably won't be there next year. Just not the same when your team is playing in Winnipeg or Quebec City.
I was way off on this series here, but Bryzgalov really didn't play well at all. He didn't suck, but he didn't make those big saves when needed either, and it killed them. But give Detroit credit, they played almost flawless hockey, and it they keep playing like that the Cup could be theirs. Considering the injuries they had to deal with they played top notch hockey. I should have known...it's fuggin' Detroit, that's what they do. x(

Goldwater Institute seems to be the only thing blocking this. I know Glendale, the Chicago businessman, and Goldwater are having meetings but Goldwater Institute won't back off their threat of a lawsuit even with Chicago businessman offering to pay back a significant portion with his own money when originally, the parking revenues are supposed to be used to pay the city back. I'm not sure if the deal is illegal but both the businessman and Glendale seem unwilling to go to trial. I saw a study by the AZ Republic that the deal is viable and beneficial to Glendale long-term but I'm not sure where that link is right now. I have doubts anything will be worked out.
I agree about the goalie and also agree about Detroit. They played very well. I was highly impressed. Defense was very good in game 1 for them. I remember the third period I never seen a team(Coyotes) have such difficulty entering an opponent's zone. A few times they resorted to long distance shots from behind the blue line.

11. Near the end of the game, CBC showed some fans wearing Winnipeg Jets sweaters |
|
Didn't say a word, just let the camera linger on them for a minute.
After the game they showed a lot of Phoenix fans (well, a dozen or so) wiping away tears. While I want to feel badly about that, I thought it was awful that Winnipeg lost their team 15 years ago.
Best case would be to have the Jets return to Winnipeg and if some other franchise has trouble (likely), maybe the Arizona group can attract them.
Congrats to my Wings, but it was a little bit of a Pyrrhic victory with other people feeling so upset.

Nashville @ Anaheim, 3-3, in progress....
Sabres take 3-2 series lead tonight, can eliminate Flyers at home on Sunday afternoon.
Last night's excellent Bruins @ Habs game also went to OT; Bruins tie series 2-2.
