Principles or pragmatism? Well, for Bud Selig it's ignoring the honor of the game. ->
NEW YORK -- Commissioner Bud Selig will not consider changing Barry Bonds' records following the slugger's conviction on obstruction of justice last week.

Bonds holds the career (762) and season (73) home run records, breaking marks set by Hank Aaron (755) and Mark McGwire (70).

"In life there's always got to be pragmatism," Selig said during a meeting Thursday with The Associated Press Sports Editors. "I think that anybody who understands the sport understand exactly why."

Bonds was convicted last week on a single count, with the jury finding he gave an evasive answer to a grand jury in 2003 when asked whether personal trainer Greg Anderson ever gave him anything that required an injection. Bonds' lawyers have asked for the verdict to be thrown out.

1. "breaking the mark set by Mark McGwire (70)"
CRAP! SHIT! TURD! FECES! CA-CA! STOOL! EXCREMENT!

The mark was set by Roger Maris (61) in 162 games and Babe Ruth (60) in 154 games!

The cheaters should all have asterisks.

4. Who Didn't Cheat?
That's the problem with any asterisks. The two guys you mentioned didn't test positive. We may all believe they juiced, but there's no hard proof, just circumstantial evidence.

So, when do we decide what's cheating, what isn't, who did, and who didn't? I'm presuming Maddux didn't, but how do we prove i'm right?

The conditions of the game were what they were at that time. No asterisks needed. Everyone knows what they believe.

5. McGuire admitted using.
The air of suspicion around Mark McGwire and his use of steroids during his run at the home run record has been settled. The newly hired St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach came clean today in a statement released to the Associated Press. "I used (steroids) on occasion...including during the 1998 season. I wish I had never touched steroids." McGwire also admits to using human growth hormone (HGH) while recovering from injuries in 1993.
