Memphis City Schools Board President Wanda Halbert says its time to start treating cheerleading as a sport. That way, students will be covered by insurance.

"It's a physical activity and we want to protect the children," Halbert says.

She wants to add cheerleading to the district's insurance policy.

"We need to treat all out children the same," she says.
