F1 says that Michelin should remburse fans
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 03:49 PM by ls317
PARIS — The president of Formula One’s governing body thinks Michelin should compensate fans who bought tickets for the United States Grand Prix fiasco.

“My personal view is that Michelin should offer to compensate the fans on a fair basis,” Max Mosley said today in a FIA statement. “Anyone who had a ticket this year would be entitled to the same ticket free of charge next year.”

FIA has already accused the seven teams using Michelin tires of damaging the sport’s image by pulling out of the June 19 grand prix at Indianapolis.

1. defnitely
Michellin is the biggest tire maker in the world, and they've been racing at he US Garnd Ptirx at Indy for % years. So thyehave NO excuse for making faulty tires at all. And those 7 teams/14 drivers are going to get NAILED by the FIA for their stunt.

I agree that it is Michelin's fault but there was this new and changed asphalt on one part of the track so it's not that they dealt with this the last years. Bridgestone had much experience because of Firestone, I forgot which series.

I don't really know all the things that were behind this "stunt" but I don't really think that the teams should get punished (like drivers losing points) for refusing to put the safety of the drivers at risk.

I even understand why they wouldn't race, even if they could change the tires every 10 laps. First, it would have still been very dangerous and another thing, why should they waste ressources when some of them have to use the same engine for the next race...
