6. It is true
But, honestly, do we need to inject politics into sports? The Spurs are somehow evil because they're located in San Antonio?

For that matter, isn't Auburn Hills a fairly Republican area? Represented by Republican Congressman Joe Knollenberg? And Republican State Senator Mike Bishop?

Hmm.....
:hi:

4. I would
think Brown is a democrat. The NBA was almost always democratic. Remember, teams were typically owned by Jewish people and it was the earliest to integrate. It is also a city game. Many GM's are Jewish as is the commissioner.

13. No!!!!
And I find it fascinating that the anti-immigrant state of Texas can embrace this team full of players from other countries.

12. Spencer Abraham? Gerald Ford/
Texas: Sam Rayburn, Lloyd Bentsen, LBJ...

For every example one side can dredge up, the other side can find an equal one. So what really is the point here other than to promote regional snobbery and prove that you're "better" than someone else?

And fuck Ohio State.

9. The Miami people tried to explain themselves away too!
I don't have to inject politics into sports as a rule, but as this is a political forum, I felt justified.

The way I see it, the states of Texas and Florida have ruined this country and I don't see any reason for conceding anything to them at this point.

GO PISTONS!!!!!!!

17. LOL, you're just saying that because you want the Spurs to win.
If the shoe were on the other foot, my friend, you would see it differently.

I am nervous about tonight's game, and I have a knot in my stomach.

GO PISTONS!!!

I want the Spurs to win.

Plus it's sweet to hear Emmylou sing "My San Antonio Rose."

19. I like both teams.
I would prefer the Pistons win, but enjoy both teams. I think that most basketball fans are pleased to see two really talented, evenly matched teams in a real championship game. There are some problems involving athletes, in a range of sports, and a number of politicians are pointing their fingers at sports -- as if sports is the problem in our society, not just a reflection of societies' problems. So I'm glad to see two teams with class, both the coaches and the players. Good luck to both teams, and I hope everyone enjoys the game.

PS: If Ben starts making noise on offense, it's going to be the Pistons.

This is basketball for true basketball fans, and it's been a long time since we've had two teams that play wonderful team ball facing each other in the finals.

22. I have HAD IT TO HERE with blue state/red state.
I've had it with the smugness of people who live in the "blue states" as if 100% of the voters in that state voted Democratic. It demeans the efforts of people such as myself who work their asses off trying to change the political landscape here.

If the Pistons win, fine, they were the better team. I'd be sad, but at least they are a team I respect a lot. Their location in Michigan has NOTHING to do with that.

I just read that today. I don't know what San Antonio's is, but I'm sure it's not in the top five. Gotta love that.
