Poll question: Which AFC team in the final wildcard spot race will make it?
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 06:32 AM by Champ
The Jets will probaly eventually take the first spot even though they have two tough opponents New England and St Louis left. So we are left to 4 teams who are 8-6, which one will it be? These 4 teams have very good defensive units and will be a tough challenge for either San Diego or Indianapolis to overcome. My vote is probaly more biased then Faux News but it is Denver even though they have been in a bit of a slump lately(Most points allowed by Denver in 10 years Sunday), if the defense gets back to the way they did weeks 1-6 and the offense begins to click with a healthy Tatum Bell in the backfield Denver won't have a problem getting in. If it wasn't for a fumble, a blocked kick, and uncharateristic play by Champ Bailey vs Cincy and Oakland, Denver would be 11-3. If Denver continues to slump, I say Jacksonville will get in.

on edit: Please Texans! WIN! Don't want to wait til next season, they already let the AFC West title slip when they were comfortably ahead for most of the year. Also, Go Steelers!!! :bounce: I can't count on Miami or San Francisco victories to help Denver out in the playoff hunt.

1. Jaguars
They are the only team you can look at and say that they should win both of their remaining games. All the other contenders have at least one very tough opponent ahead.

Jaguars are in the best position to clinch a spot, they have the tiebreaker over the other 3 teams currently. The fact that I'm a Denver fan affected my vote in this poll no question. All 4 have great defenses but Jacksonville and Denver have the best offensives from the group. However, I think Jacksonville just got through their last difficult challenge of the season, @ Green Bay in late-Demember. Meanwhile Denver has Indy and the other two face the 13-1 Steelers(Who I'll be their biggest fan final 2 weeks of the season :silly:)

3. Jags Convinced Me
Yesterday in Green Bay, they came out gunning. They beat the Packers handily. WOW, how could a Florida team win in the frigid cold of the Frozen Tundra.

Probaly Leftwich had experience leading a offense in cold weather games in the MAC. There is however alot of players from a Florida University on the Jacksonville Jaguars, it is still an impressive victory for any team that defeats Green Bay at Lambaeu during the winter.

on edit: How did Jacksonville win? Simple, Fred Taylor was set loose against the Packer's D and Farve turned the ball over 4 times.

5. I look forward to the ..........
........... CLEVELAND BROWNS being the surprise team late this year. It will be
surprise if they get 10 first downs and 150 yards of total offense in the last 2
games. The only good news is that butch davis a born again stuck up bush
supporter got fired.

BROWNS IN 2012

6. Cleveland is an expansion team mess that has yet to be cleaned
They need to find a QB and a RB they can stick with, they need to find some players to build the team with. I never seen an offense with so many question marks, Garcia, McCown, and Holcomb. They need to dump Garcia and McCown, see if Holcomb will be a backup next year and get a good QB that has been missing in Cleveland since the Ravens resided there. Green and Suggs are pretty much equal but one has gotta emerge as the starter for RB. It has been back and forth with Green and Suggs like the Couch and Holcomb days. Cleveland also needs another recieving weapon, Bryant is good but Northcutt is not a #2 reciever, he is the 2nd best reciever they have but Cleveland's passing attack would be better with Bryant, (Good #2), and Northcutt. Cleveland showed so much promise in Butch's first 2 season, however his last 2 showed everyone Cleveland's inability to form a consistent offensive unit.

7. Bills leading
I guess 1-5 and Bledsoe just playing awful is distant memory now. Thanks to Willis, McGahee turned out to be a good pickup after all. :toast: to Buffalo for even being in the AFC race winning 5 in a row after being 3 games under .500 with 7 games left to play.

8. The Bills....
...after New England losing against the Dolphins, that last game for Pittsburgh against the Bills, just became meaningless for Pittsburgh. For the Bills, it will be the Super Bowl. The Bills will need it badly, while Pittsburgh will probably be sitting guys out to rest them.

10. Not the Ratbirds...ugh
They should be (with any luck) quite dead after this weekend...

I'd say the Jags have the best shot of getting in and knocking off the Bolts or Colts for us.

That's my plan anyway...
