Roddick fightback downs Grosjean
By Sarah Holt
BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Andy Roddick battled past Sebastien Grosjean to claim his place in the last four with a 3-6 6-2 6-1 3-6 6-3 win.

After a brief rain delay, Grosjean took advantage of a sluggish Roddick, breaking at 4-2 to race to the opener.

Roddick rediscovered his serve and forehand in the second set to break the Frenchman twice, before racing to the third set in just 31 minutes.

Another lapse saw Grosjean steal the fourth but Roddick picked up the pace, making the decisive break in the fifth.

Roddick will now face 12th seed Thomas Johansson in Friday's semi-final.

1. Perfect nickname for Roddick is "the Jerk"
It reflects his movement on the court and his attitude/personality.

:puke:

2. Maybe that can improve along with the tennis?
I sometimes wonder if his self-deprecating humor and tendency to call himself a dork whenever a camera points at his face (especially when interviewed on the subject of Mandy Moore and the subject of geeting laid) is related to his reticence about his bank balance....

3. Yeah, well...that "jerk" saved a bunch of people in a hotel fire.
He gets a pass in my book for that, if nothing else.

4. So is Hewitt!
He's also in the semis.
He's my baby and one helluva a good tennis player. Don't think he'll beat Federer though.

5. I still can't forgive Hewitt for the crap he gave James Blake
Actually, the statement he made about a line call and the color of the line judge's skin. That was totally inappropriate. I know it doesn't matter to anyone, least of all Hewitt, that I think it will take a lot to endear him to some fans after that remark at the US Open a few years ago.

Then again, most people have probably forgotten all about it.

On a lighter note, I just heard that he and Kim Clijsters have broken up and he's engaged to someone new.

6. Engaged and a baby on the way!
Hewitt has a real bad attitude at times when he's on the court as do most of the male players. I believe he made that statement while talking to the media, correct???

For the most part, although he's a bit cocky on the court, he's always been, imo, very gracious and respectful during off-court interviews.

Sometimes players get caught up in the moment. I am not defending his statement but on the other hand, the Williams sisters, who are my fave women's players, have made numerous statements concerning race.

7. A baby?!!!
He didn't pine over Kim for long, eh?

They all tend to make rash and stupid statements at times.

The semis should be good. I assume Federer and Roddick in the finals but Roddick can be very unpredictable.

9. Actually, he never mentioned the color of the linesman's skin
He just implied that he was talking about that. He asked the unpire what the linesman and Blake had in common....

And of course they were both African American.

Maybe the linesman had a bad first serve, too. :sarcasm:
