Joe Torre is an idiot
He had Gordon in a 5 run game tonight and he gets hurt. Last year he overused Gordon all year and it caught up in the postseason. He's doing the same this year. It was 5 run game. I'm sick of his mismanagement the Yankees bullpen.

4. they had an idiot proof team
a few years back. I remember Torre as the Mets, Braves and Cardinals manager. He's always been clueless.

5. not really
Not every Yankee fan kisses his ass.
He's a horible manager. For the 96-2001 teams, winning covered his horrible, horrible handling of pitchers.

6. I'll bite....
Could it be the reason Gordon was used because he hasn't pitched since Sunday?

He pitched in 40 games for 41.1 innings. At the halfway point that's behind the horrendously blistering pace he was at last year. Not good though but who else is there?

C'mon Dave. Its bad news but this isn't Joe's fault.

7. 80
appearances for Gordon is a lot. That's the pace he's on. He's had arm problems in the past. He got up in the pen on Tuesday with a 9 run lead. This nonsense needs to stop.

11. I agree....
...but he still hadn't actually pitched since Sunday and the youngsters had thrown a few innings the last few days.

8. I always felt bad that Buck Showalter never got the credit he deserved....
he was the one that turned that team around after years of losing. He returned them to the post-season for the first time in 14 years. He was a great manager. And he did an amazing job of building the Diamondbacks too. I felt awful that the won right after he left. Sometimes that happens because you bring in a great new manager, but in Arizona's case it happened because of Showalter's work.

It's a shame I hate Texas so much, I'd like to root for a team Buck manages.

Steve

9. In Torre's mind, 8th inning = Gordon
Most baseball managers are really un-creative. The way they handle relievers regarding saves is just retarded. It's more about stats than game situations. It was the 8th, so Torre slid Gordon in there, just as his formula dictates.
And don't even start on Womack... there's another topic for ya!

10. Don't get me started
we had a 5 run lead. Develop the young arms in that spot.
