Both of them are in next-to-last place in their divisions.

The A's have been coming on lately and have just climbed above the .500 mark.

The Giants are 13 games below .500 and ten games behind the first-place Padres.

So, at mid-season, we're already saying "Wait 'til next year!"

2. So do people out there think Bonds is a bum?
It is doubtful that the Giants would be true contenders with him in the lineup, but they'd certainly be a better team. They still don't have a lot of pitching and they are old, but I still think if Bonds was there, they'd be better.

3. We would agree with that
This fan would never call Bonds a bum. A sonovabitch, maybe, but not a bum.

4. Don't know about the Giants
But the A's have my White Sox number. Went to the game Saturday night. My Sox got trounced. Zito looked un-hit-able. Hate to have to play them in the playoffs. If they continue to play the way they are now, that may occur.

5. Don't give up on the A's
They're playing great and are on a serious roll. I love watching the non-mega money stars perform like they want to be out there playing. Enthusiasm counts for a lot.

6. The A's have been playing well of late
and I'd expect them to be very good next year. Beane knows what he's doing.
