I guess I can be considered a disgruntled fan but I'm not exactly celebrating the NHL's return. Why? Nothing will change. There's still going to be a 80 MEANINGLESS game season played by over-payed bums whom wouldn't have made the minors back in the '70's.
The referees will selectively call penalties when the mood strikes them - as always, more endless clutching, grabbing, high-sticks, elbows, career ending knee injuries and concussions. Perpetual media ass kissing of the Flyers, Avs, Red Wings and Leafs ('cause they're the only teams that matter - :eyes:). Oh, can't forget the Rangers! Somehow the media can't shut up about them no matter how bad they suck. Ridiculously over-priced tickets to games and idiot fans who will pay for them, shitty television coverage... Gee, I can barely wait! :sarcasm:

1. muhamar qaddafi despises spectator sports |
|
and i think i agree.
luckily i have never had a pro hockey team in any city i've lived in. in sequence, i have broken my interest in a. pro football, then b. pro baseball. living in Cincinnati, then Seattle, has certainly helped. it sucks to lose & lose & lose & lose.
only my interest in the sonics remains to be conquered. then i will be freed from the cycle of rebirth.

3. Your uncalled for (!!) shots at the likes of the Leafs aside..... |
|
:boring:.......I do agree with your overall assessment of the game. Too many teams, too much obstruction, too many cheap shots, etc. I think that media favouritism is kind of a subjective statement, although who wouldn't agree that the Yankees, Red Sox and Braves are totally overexposed in MLB media coverage?! Having said all that....I hope all fans in all 30 rinks this fall, boo the hell out of the home teams and the visiting teams as they take the ice for the first game of the season. Like a good 5 or 10 minute standing boo-vation!!! After that, let the games begin!!! Overpaid whiny baby athletes aside, they play the game better than anybody else, so bring it on!!! :woohoo:

Bit your tongue! :spank:
If there were a Red Sox 24/7 chanel I would probably watch it (if I had a TV that is). It is simply not possible for the Red Sox to be overexposed. :P The Yankees on the other hand...x(

5. What is this hockey of which you speak? |
|
I haven't had much interest in hockey in years and to tell the truth missed it not at all. I don't expect I will be paying much attention to it's resurrection either.
