disastrous news for Yankee fans . . .
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 03:06 PM by OneBlueSky
the Yankee corps of three healthy starters has been reduced to two . . . Chien-Ming Wang, the rookie who has been pitching great for them, has been placed on the DL with an inflamed shoulder . . . and it could be a season-ending injury . . . going into Fenway, the Yanks now have only two legitimate starters for their four-game series . . . they're going to have to make a trade, and will probably have to give up Robinson Cano to get a quality starter . . .

this really sucks . . . just when they're starting to play decent ball, an already depleted staff gets further depleted . . . I'm gonna be sick . . .

update: the Yankees brought up Tim Redding from Columbus . . . they got him from San Diego in the Quantril trade . . . he's 1-5 with an ERA over 9.00 . . . they're also apparently talking to the Rockies about a pitcher named Chacon, or something like that, who also has a terrible record . . . sucks big time . . .

1. The Yankees? They're in the American League, right?
That would make it impossible for them to ever play decent ball, no matter how much they win.

so you'll probably come take on from my Pirates.

MLB is sooo fucked up - needs a salary cap NOW!

11. Couple of things....
Yankees fans are no more a monolithic group than Red Sox fans. Both have their assholes.

That said, what's with the little kid excuse "but, but they did it first"?

The Yanks have Moose tonite, Redding tomorrow, Sturtze on Sat and Wang is still listed for Sunday, though Brown may take that start.

Based on second hand reports from the Yankees newsgroup, Wang's injury does indeed look bad, a possibly torn or frayed rotator cuff.

13. Dang. I like Wang.
And I like what he did for the Yanks, coming out of their system, with all the big dollars sitting next to him in the bullpen.

I hope he recovers quickly.

Sorry, Yanks fans. June 31st looms large and there are moves to be made, but this truly rots.
