until yesterday, the Yanks has three legitimate starters, one of whom was a rookie who could be classified as "finding lightning in a bottle" . . . now it looks like Wang will be out for the year, and what the Yanks have waiting to return from the DL (Pavano, Brown, and Wright) is no bargain . . .

the bottom line is this . . . while the Yankees have a lineup that on any given night can become a "Murderers Row," they simply don't have the pitching to win it all this year . . . probably not even to get them into the playoffs . . . one irrefutable baseball truth is that you can't win without pitching, and everything the Yanks did in to off-season to strengthen their pitching staff has backfired . . . no pitching, no championship . . . and that's the truth, Ollie . . .
