Tigers vs. Royals BASE-BRAWL thread
Runelvys Hernandez said he was not trying to hit anybody. The Detroit Tigers did not believe him.

<snip>

Three relievers finished the six-hitter for the Royals, who had three players and manager Buddy Bell ejected in the melee that started after Hernandez beaned Detroit's Carlos Guillen in the helmet, his third hit batter of the game.

``What he did is not acceptable,'' Tigers catcher Ivan Rodriguez said. ``A pitcher cannot throw at a player's head. It's not a good thing to do.''

<snip>

``When you're a big league pitcher, you should be able to throw below the shoulder,'' (Brandon Inge) said. ``When you throw above the shoulder, it's no accident.''

1. I wondered when this was going to show up....
Obviously there are not a lot of Tigers and Royals followers in this forum.

2. I just like seeing Farnsy throw down on someone.
1st with the Cubs, now here.

He should go into Ultimate Fighting.

:D

10. He didn't really throw down on him
more like a tackle.

4. Heck, now I want a Farnsworth jersey!
They had Drew Sharp on local (Seattle) radio talking about this this morning. Goodness, I don't like him. He claimed the pitch was an "accident", didn't mention the three other hit batters (2 of them Tigers), said the brawl did nothing to build team unity, and then went on to trash Alan Trammell.

What I don't understand is, since Drew Sharp seems to 1) hate sports; 2) hate Detroit sports more; and 3) hate Michigan sports the most, why he continues to write for a newspaper where he has to report on three topics he so dislikes?

5. Did you see Farnsworth last year (or year before)
whenever it was - a cross to the batter's face - down he went, bloodied and beaten.

It was awe inspiring.

8. Farnsworth needs to gain maturity
Yeah he's a bad ass, but yesterday was uncalled for. The incident in Chicago where he body slammed Paul Wilson was somewhat justified because as I recall, Wilson came after Farnsie. But I'm glad he's away from the Cubs and I just wonder how long his suspension will be as he has a record, so to speak. Btw, Farnsie is about 6'5" and a Black Belt in karate, so it is unknown why other ball players want to challenge him, except for some macho b.s.

11. Here's a link to the video:
Farnsworth's takedown is shown at about 2:50 and 4:00 in the video. Right under the still photo, click on "Guillen's HBP starts scrum: 56K | 350K". Lance sure looks like he's having a good time in the photo doesn't he?
