Bye Larry Brown
The Detroit Pistons and Larry Brown are parting ways, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The Pistons and Brown, sources said, moved closer Monday to a buyout of Brown's contract, which has three years left at $18 million.

It was not immediately known if the buyout arrangement would be finalized Monday, and it remains to be seen whether Brown -- plagued by serious bladder complications throughout much of last season after hip surgery -- intends to take some time away from coaching. He could pursue a coaching job with the New York Knicks or a front-office job with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

5. And people used to think
that Allen Iverson was the jerk in Philadelphia. Larry Brown is a use-em-and-lose-em tease. His selfishness is unreal.

6. I'd say
that the Pistons are at least as much to blame, if not more so.

Just look at how they treated Rick Carlysle. Wins 50+ games, Coach of the Year, and gets unceremoniously fired because Brown is available.

Hmm....

7. Brown Track Record
Its a proven fact that Brown doesn't stay in one place long... Yes he is a great basketball mind and a great teacher of the game.
Yes Carlysle won 50 games for two seasons.. bottom line he was very antisocial.. plus him screaming at the owners admin staff didn't help his cause either.
Brown showed no loyalty to the Pistons by speaking with the cleveland during the playoffs while they where in progress.
He could have said lets just wait until the season is over and talk then.

8. Here's something else to consider, though
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=whitlock/050714

To appreciate this column, you're going to have to first acknowledge you've been misled about what's really been transpiring between the Detroit Pistons and Larry Brown.

You think this sorry soap opera is another tale about Brown's wanderlust and double-dealing. Maybe you think it's a riff about his ailing body.

You're wrong.

Larry's history has played a role in this mess. But to understand how a team with back-to-back Finals appearances is likely to be playing next season for its third coach in four years, the truly enlightening factor is the Pistons' history.

Pistons owner Bill Davidson, former Pistons president and current Palace of Auburn Hills president Tom Wilson, Pistons spokesman Matt Dobek and Pistons president Joe Dumars have so many media members (not all of them, but enough) in their hip pockets that I can't really blame you for being confused.

Much more at the link. Just remember that the sports media is as lazy and corrupt as the mainstream media. Spin is used as much in this arena as in the political arena.
