Red Sox fans -- I spent the weekend kayaking the Rogue River. |

A, if not the, favorite fishing hole of Bobby Doerr. Sipping coffee in the cafe in Agness, yesterday morning, I would've thought I was in Boston with all the signed pix of Doerr and Ted Williams on the walls. Well, except for the smell of Steelhead in my nose from the prior evening's fish fry -- and the relative lack of humidity.
I suppose I should have felt sheepish sitting there wearing my Milwaukee Braves cap.
:)
But then, noting the results of the Sox-Yanks series, looks like ya'll should've joined me.

1. I grew up there...most people wouldn't have a clue |
|
that you were wearing a Braves cap, or know who Bobby Doerr is, for that matter. But the Rogue is a nice ride, isn't it? Did you take the Jet Boat tour?

I've taken the Jet Boat ride with my parents (from AZ) -- the long one. Big FUN!

for my best buddy in SF who's a rabid Red Sox fan. Also he has a display of some of his memorabilia in a bookstore (can't remember the name, of course)in Gold Beach. Very nice guy, and man is he in good shape-probably the results of living the good life here in Oregon.

4. He's gotta be in his late 70's by now, right? |

"It's the Climate" isn't just an idle claim.

6. I have a signed copy of his Hall of Fame card and he is listed as |
|
Robert Pershing Doerr and played between 1937 and 1951. He was a teammate of Ted Williams and played against Gehrig and Ruth so that gives you an idea how old he is. I'd say at least 80.

I know I wouldn't be anywhere near the shape I'm in, if I lived almost anywhere else in the US, that's for sure.
