The Triplets - Aikman, Irvin, and Smith to be inducted to Ring of Honor |
|
On the Monday night game against the Redskins. A slight controversy brews as some of the older Cowboys, who should be on it, are being passed over. Especially Drew Pearson, the Cowboys all time clutch receiver.
The Ring of Honor is a great source of pride to many Cowboy vets. I saw Cliff Harris at an On the Border here in Rockwall, Texas, and congratulated him on the Ring of Honor (he was inducted last year with Rayfield Wright, two who should be in the hall). I said he belonged in the Hall of Fame, but mentioned that there was a conspiracy of Cowboy haters who vote and are keeping out great players from the 70s. (those Cowboy teams of the seventies won more regular season games in that decade and appeared in 5 superbowls). Harris told me that I was right.

I think you're right. There are indeed players who get passed over or ignored because of the hatred of others.
Having said that, Aikman, Irvin, and Smith's talents as "triplets" absolutely cannot be ignored. Why do you think there were so many new Cowboys haters in the early nineties? Because these three were doing the things that couldn't be done. I mean, I'm not even a big Cowboys fan (Chiefs fan) and I'm smart enough to recognize their near domination of the sport brought on by these three guys.

2. Thank you for your reasonable reply |

I know that there are many Texas haters here, and the Cowboys are lumped into that. I believe that there is a movement within the sportswriting community that is out to "get" the Cowboys, including mainly here in the DFW metroplex.

3. plenty of hall of fame travesties to go around |
|
the fact that Harry Carson is not in the hall is a complete joke. He was as good as any inside linebacker of his era.
