Monday & Tuesday At Bears Camp |
|
I got my hands on a press pass for this week. (Guy who had it was scheduled for oral surgery and was going to miss Mon. and Tues. So, he gave it to me.)
Got to go to the press sessions, stand on the sidelines during practice. I acted like i belonged there, but i didn't ask any questions or anything. Didn't want to be conspicuous. (Not sure if the guy was supposed to give me that pass.)
It was pretty cool. Man those are some BIG, FAST people! 300+ pound guys with that kind of speed. Pretty impressive. And, i gotta tell ya, Urlacher is LIGHTENING fast! I have NEVER seen someone that big so quick and fast. Wow!
And the new receiver, Muhammad, is a very big guy. Got to be at least 6'3" and probably pushing 220#. Hands the size of tennis rackets too!
Grossman was throwing the ball SUPERBLY. I think i saw only about 6 or 7 passes that had even a little wobble. Tight spirals. Good velocity, and he was running well, with no knee brace.
I liked what i saw. I'm far more optimistic about them this year.

I gave the press pass back. It's the Chicago Bears training camp in Bourbonnais, IL. About 16 miles southeast of my town. Out of my driveway, go three blocks. Turn left and drive on one road all the way. Pretty cool.
Mushin (sp) Muhammad is the receiver they picked up this year as a free agent. From Carolina, i think. The Professor

4. He Was Doing Receiver Drills |
|
The receivers were doing the pylon route drills and he was throwing to them. Can't tell anything from that, because every QB in the NFL can throw the ball. The trick is throwing it when a bunch of 300 pound guys are trying to separate you from your senses. I will say that Grossman sure looked like he had more zip on the ball. The Professor
