Even if they lost, Holmgren has done so much for that organization. 3 winning seasons(4 if they finish the season with a win) and 2 playoff appearences in 6 years. He found a solid QB, RB, and WR(Some teams spend a decade or 2 finding a skilled offensive trio that click well together) for years to come as well as talented defense.

3. Alexander's a free agent after this season, though, |
|
and Paul Allen isn't as free with his checkbook as he once was.

4. I didn't realize he was |

I'm not good at all at predicting what happens during FA time, won't Seattle make adjustments and resign him? He is one of the best backs in the league.

rushing record for the Seahawks today with one game to go -- 1600-plus yards.
The anti-Seahawk announcers on Faux today were making a big deal out of how he was putting on a show so he could sit back and collect the dough at the end of the year.
Paul Allen used to be a big spender, throwing money at talented players who couldn't play together if their lives depended on it. (I'm in Portland and had to suffer the Whitsitt/Allen combination for way too long with the Blazers. Whitsitt sucks at making personnel decisions. His famous quote about building teams was "I'm not a chemistry major.")
Anyway, who knows what will happen, but I'd lay odds Alexander's out of there.

2. And I'm not sure if that's enough.. |
|
He's had eight years to develop a Super Bowl team and he's barely made it into the playoffs a couple of times and he's never won a game in the playoffs. His personnel decisions during gametime suck @$$ and his playcalling is pathetic. He consistently blows games by trying to keep the lead and run the clock down, instead of playing to score. None of the players like playing for him, hence all the retarded injuries on the Seahawks defense. Barring some improvement on the defensive line and adding a few solid linebackers that won't be out for half the year, the Seahawks have all the talent in the world.
Personally, I hope Paul Allen fires Holmgren along with Hasslebeck. Our contract with Widstrom was foolish and the contract he's trying to negotiate with Hasslebeck is foolish. Hasslebeck isn't worth the money he's being offered. I'd love to see the Seahawks trade their 1st round pick and Hasslebeck to San Diego for Phillip Rivers.
Holmgren's had 8 years to take the Seahawks, at least, to the NFC championship and he hasn't accomplished that. Honestly, I could implement better playcalling than Holmgren's been implementing. No motion, poor use of formations and piss poor clock management.
Holmgren's gotta go, regardless of what happens.

6. Trading Hasselbeck and 1st rounder for Rivers is a BAD trade |
|
Rivers is a rookie who has yet to prove himself, has an unorthodox delivery and could struggle and even fail at the Pro level. He will definately struggle first few years of his career, however Hasselbeck has done well. Better then most QBS, he is having a solid year and had a Pro Bowl season last year. He is a big reason why Seattle clinched two consecutive years. It's been 6 years and it is extremely difficult to turn any team in a Super Bowl team since only 2 out of 32(6%) can make it each year. So far Seattle has improved alot for a franchise that has been bad for years! I don't see any coach doing much better considering the talent teams such as ATL, Philadelphia, Minnesota, and many others will have for coming years.

He's gotten them into the playoffs in 3 of his 6 seasons. It may be mediocrity, but it is a higher quality of mediocrity than existed before him.
I think the fortunes of this team are much more connected to the trinity of Hasselbeck, Jones and Alexander than to Holmgren. Hasselbeck IS a keeper, he has played through a ton of injuries that have killed his numbers.
This team is closing in. It would be a mistake to break them up. I always said 2005/2006 was the year anyway.
