Questions regarding Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong has had a tremendous impact on the sport of cycling in the United States. Americans are looking up to him as a true hero in the world of sports for what he has overcome and for what he has achieved. Now a French newspaper claims that some urine samples show that he used EPO back in 1999 which was before the tests were available. The director claims that the accusations appear credible and said that it looked like Lance has fooled the sport for 7 years. Lance is, of course, disputing all this. Most American commentators that I've heard are defending Lance.

What do you think? Are we Americans looking at this with rose colored glasses? Are we so proud of him that we refuse to admit that he could have cheated? Have we put Lance on such a high pedestal that we just simply CAN'T criticize him? Or is it that the French are upset that an American has defeated the world in their sport and on their turf? Is the thought of an American being the greatest Tour winner of all time just too much for French pride to accept? How would we feel if a team came here from Ethiopia and defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl? Is that what the French are thinking?

1. I am not a sports person, but the fact that they are
resurrecting something from 6-7 years ago bears watching. If there was proof when it happened he would have been busted. To me, this looks a lot lame, a lot too late.

2. Lance went riding with the twig....
I lost all respect for him then. After all the great feelings I had about him beating cancer, and all, he goes and ruins it.

I couldn't care less if he loses his titles.

BUT, why all of a sudden, he's suspect, and something from '99 is surfacing?

3. Honestly....I don't know how to read it.
I want to believe Lance, and I think I do, but I don't know what to make of this whole thing. Doped up...in 1999? Why not subsequently too....why is this coming out now?? I'm scratchin' my head.

4. Burden of proof is on the accuser. Let the newspaper prove it.
