Giants may host Saints in Week 2
The NFL is giving serious consideration to moving the Giants-Saints game the second week of the season to Giants Stadium as a result of the damage done to New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina. NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue admitted yesterday the league believes the Saints may be unable to play at home this season.

The NFL is weighing all possibilities regarding a move of the game to Giants Stadium. It could be played on Saturday; as part of a day-night Sunday doubleheader with the Jets-Dolphins game; or on Monday night.

Moving the game to the New York area and putting it on in prime time would provide a high-profile platform to promote disaster-relief efforts.

Other sites mentioned include LSU in Baton Rouge, La., San Antonio and Houston, as well as Orlando and cities in Alabama and Mississippi. However, it might be too soon for the NFL to put a game in Baton Rouge, which is assisting in the recovery effort.

1. They're going to have to go somewhere else for a long while
This season they have to go somewhere for teh whole time, but probably even next year and the year after. Most of teh population of New Orleans is going to disperse to other cities and locations for the foreseeable future. It'll take decades for Nola to be back where it is now.

Saints need to find a more permanent home, along with their fans.

5. I wish they could take all their displaced workers with them
Lots of Superdome hourly workers have lost their jobs for the foreseeable future.

2. Dang! And I'm going to NYC the week after that
Otherwise I would have gone, with a paper bag over my head of course, to show my support for "America's Team"!

At this point the bag symbolizes the suckiness, not of the 'Aints (expected), but of Bush**, that weenie from FEMA, and the whole lot of 'em.

3. That is a great idea....
...I'll take a Giants loss to a fired up Saints team if the venue proves helpful to the situation.

6. Either way.....
...if a simple thing like the Saints winning could make people feel better for even a moment I'll take it.

Would I still liek to see the Giants win? Of course.

Let's just say if they lose, there won't be the usual drunken temper tantrum ;-)

9. Followup with information re tickets
Giants Chief Operating Officer John Mara

"We have stated since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast that the most important focus for all of us is on the extraordinary relief effort that is necessary to restore that region to some sort of normalcy as quickly as possible. As a league, we have contributed to that effort, and as an organization, we will continue to do the same. We think the league’s decision to move our game with the Saints to Giants Stadium will allow us an even greater opportunity to contribute. We are currently working with the league, the NJSEA (New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority) and the Saints on a ticket policy for that game, and we will have an announcement on that early next week."
