The Detroit Lions were robbed:
With only five wins headed into this last weekend's home game against Chicago, Detroit was all set for a high draft pick.
Their plans were derailed when Chicago's rally from a 16-0 deficit was cut short by a poor call by the officials. That call negated an obvious touchdown pass completion in the end zone, as time was running short. A replay challenge was denied, and Detroit was credited with a win they hadn't earned.
The final score was 19-13, but most observers realized that the TD should have been allowed, and with the nearly automatic PAT, Chicago would have earned a 20-19 comeback victory.
Detroit too would have won, as they would have locked up a draft pick in the top ten, maybe as high as number five. Now, with their unearned sixth victory, the Lions are scrambling to secure a pick in the top sixteen. Sometimes, there is no justice.

1. /sarcasm off.

lol.

Have the Detroit Lions ever been this close to .500 before?

Hey, the Lions really got robbed last week when the lost because
of a missed extra point, so it all worked out in the end.

why you're dissing Joey Harrington?

I don't think Leaf lasted in a starting job for three
years, like Harrington has.

So back the diss up or ... being a Packer fan is no
excuse.

4. I think Lion fans are unanimously blaming the Joey Harrington pick
for the Lions' woes today. I don't necessarily agree with them. (There are other problems with this team other than the lack of a NFL caliber QB)

5. Love the back-handed slap.

Gee, I wonder how many other non-NFL caliber QB's have
started every game for three years for their clubs.

I also think Steve Mariucci would sit the guy down and
start somebody else if he weren't "NFL caliber."

Somebody somewhere bring me some facts instead of back-handed
and lazy insults.

Please.

and there's not a big difference between "back-handed
and lazy insults" and "silly, uninformed homer-isms".

6. Trade Harrington
Seriously. The sooner I can stop reading Lions fans blaming Joey for everything, the better. Present company excluded, of course. I lurk at Lions boards, so I'm up on the Joey-bashing.

Trade him now! Send him back home to the West Coast!

7. Thank you.

:hi:

He's such a good kid. He deserves to be somewhere where
he's appreciated.

10. he would die on the west coast.
his ONE hope is that his current head coach, Steve Mariucci, has a track record of making great/good quarterbacks out of virtually nothing.

11. Something most Lions fans don't know about Mooch
Know who his "guy" was in SF after Young? It wasn't Garcia. It was Jim Druckenmiller. If Mooch had his way, that's who would've been starting. He's lucky Walsh made him play Garcia.

I'm not saying Harrington didn't stink up the joint more than a few times this season, but I think you're absolutely right that the Lions' problems are more than the QB. Horrid safety play, receivers unable to catch balls that hit them in the chest, a TE that doesn't get or like the WCO, an O-line that can either run block or pass block but not both in the same game and a head coach who publicly dumps on a young QB that he's supposed to be developing.

Next year is a contract year for both Joey and Mooch, right? I think Mariucci is buying himself some insurance.

In any case, a WCO-trained QB with a few seasons' starts will always have a job in the NFL. If Mirer and Jeff George can still get on a roster, I mean, come on.

13. Nah, I knew that
But Holmgren was around, too. And Mooch wasn't HC.

I think Mooch has...how can I put this...found himself in fortunate situations.

or WHAT?!?!

I'm not going to do your homework for you.

the guy is a walking time bomb, and every informed NFL fan knows it. Harrington is two years away from oblivion.

bombs at Joey Harrington.

You have a case, then make it. Don't expect me to do
