I'm going out on a limb to say (White Sox)
the White Sox will win the next 2 games of the Cleveland series.
I've seen it happen before, the challenger keeps closing and takes the first game of a crucial series. Then the hype across the sports world is in full gear, only to overwhelm the challenger, and the leader takes control.

Is my head full of rocks? We shall see...

Full disclosure: I am not a fan of either team, actually, I am a Cubs fan. :D

1. I disagree
the Sox have come down to earth and the Tribe is playing the best ball of anybody in the majors right now....might be too late, but Cleveland will make things verrrrrrrryyyy interesting the next 2 weeks...I, actually, think that they will overtake the Sox

2. sorry, but wrong.
The sox are not even close to being done. This tiny swan dive is only a hint of that great thud in the night we will hear. They will make the playoffs, but will get beaten so soundly that people will not even consider the possibility of thinking about the thought crossing their minds of "wait til next year".

The sox will remind one of their grade school locker after forgetting to take the gymn clothes home all semester.

5. Mrs. ZBDent is following the Indians quite a lot
(and, in 1997, they had me believing by the end of the season - then they f*ed up.)

And she is excited about the Indians. Hoping that they get the div. win. But she's been born and raised in Cleveland. She was only 1 year old when the last championship (barring indoor soccer) was won. So she's itching. But she's a realist.

Now, I'm from Pittsburgh. I was quite disgusted, and I admit that the Jets were robbed in that playoff game last year. New England deserved the win, the way that Pittsburgh played in the AFC game. But the feeling is back for the black and gold.

So, back to the relatively distant point. Mrs. ZBDent would be rather annoyed if you turn out right.

6. That's been the plan all along....
to make it "interesting" for us Sox fans.

You know, to boost attendance.......

We're just toying with the league....

Cleveland is in the last throes of its pennant race......

It's all under control......

not to worry.....

Why do I feel like Donald Rumsfeld? :yoiks:

7. Yeah, it's just hard to see Cleveland's surge continuing indefinitely.
At some point, things are going to level off.

26. Why?
The sox played over their heads the first part of the season - IMHO Cleveland would be in 1st already if Buehrle(sp?) hadn't intentionally hit Hafner in the face in July - Just sayin'.

Sutter in person in 1984, and have been hooked since.

12. I respectfully disagree
The Indians are the hottest team in baseball. The White Sox's pitching is falling apart, and the Indians have a great offense.

My Twins have broken my heart this year.

14. I am surprised at the Twinks
at least you are not a Royals fan. 3rd 100 loss season in 4 years. People around here are so pissed they wont even talk about them. Yesterday they played Detroit. Lowest attendance turnout in 10 years.

15. As a Tribe fan since the 60s, you have my sympathy.
Do attendees get their own personal vendor in the stands like we did?

(But you could move from the nosebleed seats to right behind home plate after the third inning, so we had that going for us.)

17. In retrospect I am not really that surprised
Carl Pohlad will not open his wallet to get a decent power hitter. Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau while pretty good "junior" players, still have enough rookie in them that they will not reach their potential until next year or the year after.

Our pitching is solid, but cannot make up for lack of offense.

The loss of Torii Hunter to a broken ankle was really the death knell for the Twins' season. He may not have produced offensively the way we would have liked, but he is the team leader, and is really good at motivating the younger position players!

22. Guess not.
Sheesh. What happened to Garland - wasn't he a mid season Cy Young Candidate?

I stil think that Cleveland will have to sweep Chicago in the last series to take the division.

Cleveland will be 1-2 games behind at the beginning of the last series of the year - needing a sweep to take the division.

25. We'll see -
On Aug. 1, here were their records:
Chicago 69-35, Cleveland 55-51.

The White Sox were in first place in the Central Division, 15 games ahead of the second-place Indians.

Since Aug. 1, here are their records:
Cleveland 34-12, Chicago 22-25.
