Orioles End Palmeiro's Controversial Year
BALTIMORE - Rafael Palmeiro's baseball season is over, the Baltimore Orioles told him Friday, the result of a positive test for steroids that severely tainted his remarkable career and proved to be too big a distraction for his teammates to ignore.

"He won't be dressing for the rest of the year," Orioles executive vice president Jim Beattie said. "We felt it wouldn't be appropriate for the organization."

The abrupt end to Palmeiro's season came one day after it was learned that he cited a vitamin he received from teammate Miguel Tejada as possibly causing the positive steroid test. The Orioles said Major League Baseball absolved Tejada of any wrongdoing.

Beattie said the decision was made during a meeting he attended with owner Peter Angelos, vice president Mike Flanagan and manager Sam Perlozzo. Beattie said Palmeiro was disappointed to learn he would not be welcomed back.

1. How INCREDIBLY sleazy for him to try to blame Tejada!
Miggy's one of the few GOOD guys out there. What a complete lack of class on Palmiero's part. Good riddance to the jerk.

8. Now we know for sure Palmeiro's a Bush supporter
He's got all the ethics of one.

11. That's something a buddy of mine just said
He rolled his eyes when I told him of the suspension.

He said if the management was serious, they'd void his contract and get rid of him completely.

3. He'll land somewhere next year
Like in KC where they're on another record setting year for losses, people will overlook the steroids to get his bat.

5. I hope the O's are too distraught to win any of their games this weekend
Selfish reasons on my part.

Didn't the O's send Palmeiro home a few weeks ago because of some phantom injury? I thought his season was done then.

7. As a Yankees fan, I hope the Orioles decide
that they need to show Raffy how little he is needed......

6. You know, screw his punk ass for trying to implicate
Tejada. He's lucky he's not being called back for this year--he'd get his ass kicked in the locker room.

9. His career is over
No one liked him anyway, and now most will hate him. He was known as an all-for-one guy who only lived for his stats. Now he's known as a rat. He's toast.

12. .....but......but......junior stand in back of this man Palmeiro
and said he believe those dirty steroids snuck into his body when he wasn't looking.

Hooray for the Orioles. It just came a little too late.

Good bye ya lying fucking bum.
