The Alabama Crimson Tide: Try And Stop 'Em
'Bama is back and is 4-0 with #5 Florida headed to Tuscaloosa next Saturday!

I'll be going up on Thursday night and will stay in T-Town all weekend long! And, yes, in the South, we are that rabid about our football teams.

Roll Tide Roll baby!!

1. Yes, the Tide
has looked very solid. They've been overlooked in the preseason, that's for sure.

13. sounds about right
Guess I'll watch on TV. I'm not paying $100 to sit in the endzone. I hope it doesn't rain, because I've got damn Directv.

I have a friend on the UA staff, so he could get season tickets cheap. Every year I try to get him to let me buy them for him, so I can go as his guest. But the dude doesn't like football. And he's from Alabama and he's straight. Can you believe that?

11. With all due respect my friend
Bama was mediocre at best against a mediocre Hog Team last weekend; depending on fourth quarter Arkansas screwups to win a home game. I'm a die hard SEC fan (HogFan). The SEC will do what it does every year, beat the hell out of each other. BAMA will lose at least two games and get a late December Bowl. Arkansas will most likely get a new Coach (Butch Davis?)

15. SEC Exposed
Alabama struggled somewhat with Arkansas which was hammered by USC the week before. Give me a break. At least Alabama is not as weak an undefeated team as Penn State or Vanderbilt, but it would go a long way to re-establishing some credibility if they win this weekend. As for me, well, I went to USC, so excuse me if I hold off on singing the praises of the tide....

16. You Really Can't Always Go On Scores
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 10:01 PM by BamaLefty
We really shot ourselves in the foot against the Hogs and screwed around the entire game before knocking them off late. I really don't think that a victory over a conference rival "exposes" the SEC as a weak conference. Did LSU's win at Arizona State after suffering through the turmoil of Hurricane Katrina expose the SEC as a weak league? And ASU plays in the Pac-10 as you know. Or Vandy's comeback win over Wake Forest in Winston Salem? Or Ole Miss' victory in the Liberty Bowl? The last time I checked, the Pac-10 was the league that was weak, beating out only the Big East for the award for the "Weakest BCS Conference." Sure, your Trojans are far and away the best team in the land at this stage in the season. But, I wouldn't go around putting down other leagues just because you guys happen to be dominating right now. Look at what Washington did against Notre Dame. Or what about Arizona's defeats at the hands of out of conference teams such as Utah and Purdue? Or the beatdown Oregon State took in Louisville? Or Stanford losing in Palo Alton to mighty 1-AA UC-Davis? Yes, the Pac-10 has had some good wins so far, UCLA's throttling of Oklahoma is the first to come to mind. But, I wouldn't put down other leagues, and especially the SEC, just because you beat an Arkansas team that had to travel all the way across the country the week after suffering a humiliating home loss to Vanderbilt and then compare that score to a game between division rivals.

Remember, in the South, football is a religion! In fact, I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon for Tuscaloosa for the showdown between #5 Florida and the #15th ranked Crimson Tide. I hope we can pull it out. Watch us on CBS if you get a chance. Roll Tide and Go Trojans!

17. It will be one hell of a game.
Florida has lost two wide outs, and Chris Leak can't run. Blitz blitz blitz. My prediction is if Florida wins it will be a blow out, if Bama wins it will be a damn good game. So everyone get ready for a damn good game.

Tennessee was a real team. Bama hasn't shown anything, yet. Remember, Vandy is 4-0 as well. I wonder if Florida will be able to jump into the top 3 in Sunday's polls.

Go Gators!!!

26. And Croyle has 17 yards on the season... whats your point?
Leak is a better passer, a better leader, and doesn't have that fear of injury in him. Bama does have a more established running game, I'll give them that, but they haven't been tested yet, and tommorrow they will be tested by the best D in the SEC. Bama needs an experienced passer to step up, otherwise they will be running into a brick wall all night. This game wont be a stunning blowout, but I feel the Gator's D will do enough to contain anything that Bama can throw at them.

Its a big day tomorrow. You get to take a break from life during Saturdays in the fall. That's why college football is so great.

34. It was tempting to root for the Gators
Then I wised up at age 3.

At the identical time today, USC trailed Arizona St 21-3 at halftime and Florida lagged Alabama 24-3. As an 'SC alum but Gator hater I kept rationalizing an 'SC loss wasn't so bad as long as it was combined with a Florida defeat, especially an embarrassing one.

To hell with that shit. The classy and gutsy team came back to win by double digits while the runts in blue and orange rolled over and lost by 28.

35. I wised up about the Gators...
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 08:05 PM by Scurrilous
...a bit late.

I actually attended UF (UM being out of my price range). First year up there they lost some important game or other. A grizzled old Gator fan sitting near me in the stands began lamenting how he'd been coming to Gator games for 30 years and they always lost 'the big ones.'

F@ck that. I'm not rooting for those losers.

Of course this was pre-Spurrier.

When the Gators won their first SEC title ('91?), I was cajoled into attending the Sugar Bowl by my old dorm roommate. They lost to Notre Dame. LOL

Anyway, good game 'Bama.

I didn't get to see the whole game, but they looked good.

They've got a tough schedule, to keep winning they're going to have to continue playing that well.
