I'm a Bills fan that doesn't get the resentment toward the Patriots |
|
You would think a Bills fan would hate the Patriots. Especially since they are in our division, have handed our asses back to us the past few years and won two Super Bowls. But I don't hate them, perhaps it is because they win with class?
So what is everyone else's problem with them?
p.s. - the Dolphins and Jets can kiss my cellulite ravaged ass.

1. It's the football version... |
|
...of the animus directed at the Florida Marlins and Arizona D'Backs.
Boston's not a real football town, not like either the old Rust Belt cities or Sun Belt places like Dallas, home of America's Team.
They shouldn't even have football -- it's a baseball town, used to have good hoops, too.
Buncha pantywaist liberals.
It was o.k. as long as the Pats sucked -- but when they started winning it wasn't part of the football Grand Scheme of Things.

2. I get the feeling the Pats are sort of like the Yankees of football |
|
This coming from a diehard Yankee fan and although I am not into Football as much anymore I used to be a big Bills fan in the 90's as they are the only team in New York that actually has a stadium located within New York State.
Oh and I lived in Niagara Falls too :)

7. the Pats are completely different from the Yankees |
|
in tone, the Yanks win by having more money to buy the best players (sort of like the Red Sox now) everyone wants to play in pinstripes, and the Yanks make it worth their while. The Pats simply find better players, for less money, that other clubs and make them better. Notice that few people leave New England voluntarily, and they are never the same afterwards.

Where would this country, let alone, say, a Buffalo Bill, or Houston Texan, be nowadays, if not for the history of the New England Patriots?

Who could hate a team led by Tom Brady? That team has heart....and Vinatiri has ice in his veins.

5. I agree. Those last two minutes yesterday... |

I'm sitting there trying not to piss my pants, and you could have chilled beer on Tom Brady and Adam Vinatieri.

12. Naw... the Pats never got on my nerves. |
|
I mean I HATE IT when we lose to them but they've never been outright obnoxious - the owners were but the current team (under Bill Belichick) wins with class, they're not dicks about it.
As far as the Dolphins are concerned... we are so on the same page. I f#%@#ing hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em. Jets too. Except. When they are playing Miami.

He's usually drunk during and after games, so if he's obnoxious, it's just the booze talkin'. :)

OK, OK, they're a great team with a great coach and a refreshing attitude in sports but I think you reach a point where you just want to see someone else have a chance. That's what helped bring about the salary cap, revenue sharing, and free agency. A sport that has just one (or a few) behemoths who always end up hoisting the hardware gets boring, especially for the fans of other teams. (Are you listening, baseball, basketball, hockey?)
I don't hate the Pats, in fact I love watching their games, but I want someone else to be there at the end!

11. That I can understand. |

But all out hatred is a bit much. They're not jerks, they're not arrogant, they play as a team... There really isn't a lot to hate, except they, well, deny everyone else a chance at winning.

14. Losing by last-minute field goals is frustrating as hell... |
|
Pats always manage to pull it off, and capitalize on other team's mistakes with ruthless efficiency. I don't hate them, but I would like to see some more teams getting props.
Think we're seeing it, too. Packers are having a hard time. Pats don't look like they've got it together like they used to. Bucs are rising. And the Bengals are 3-0!
Who says football isn't competitive?
