What...call fair catch...you miss it bounces twice...it's still your ball?

I agree with Madden & Michaels, it's a dumb rule and should be revisited. You ask for a fair catch, fine, you get to try and catch it. If you don't catch it the first time, it's anyone's ball.

I know some of them were made to literally save the QB. I remember the days when a whole team would pile on him after a sack! I think most of the rules are good, but where do these weird ones come from?
It sounds like someone's got lobyiests in the room!

Unless there's a separate rules committee. Mainly NFL coaches, IIRC. It's probably because when a player is calling for a fair catch, they know they're vulnerable, and if the catch is bobbled at all, does that mean it's fair game to go after him? Even if it just kind of bounces within his arms while catching it? It would probably be hard to say just how "much" the catch can be muffed before you can interfere with the catcher. Rather than leave that judgment call up to the ref, the rule was made to not allow any interference on a fair catch call.

The officials HAVE been awful for the Steelers. They're playing one hell of a game though! :thumbsup:
