bad caLL
awfuL caLL, or noncaLL, on the strikeout.

i thought the ruLe (even though the catcher actuaLLy caught the baLL) was, that a runner couLd advance to first on a swing-and-miss that the catcher does not catch, if first base is free.. and Less than 2 outs?

23. The ump called him out TWICE
I'm rooting for the White Sox in this series, but that call will rank right up the with Don Denkinger's screwing of the Cardinals in the 1985 WS.

Hopefully, your team re-learns how to run the basepaths and you win the next three fair and square.

but the slo-mo loks like it hit the ground. The ump can hear the ball better than we can see it. Pierzynski said he heard it hit the ground. I, for one, believe him. But then again, who gives a shit what I think...SOX WIN, BABY!!!!!

22. Yeah, you're biased.
But you're a fan, that's allowed.

The catcher who caught the ball would know best of all. If he hadn't caught the ball cleanly, he'd have tagged the batter or thrown to 1st. Plus, the home plate umpire gave the out signal. Even if the ball hit the ground first, the umpire's signal was confusing at best.

35. You are absolutely correct...
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 11:06 PM by truebrit71
..if the catcher even had a doubt as to whether he caught the ball or not he would have tagged the runner. As it was, he caught the ball, the umpire gave TWO signals, one for no contact, and the second ringing him up, the batter INITIALLY headed in the direction of the dugout, and then ran back to first.

A terrible call, by a spectacularly fucking useless ump, and the Black Sux are gifted a win...

Let's hope the Black Sux don't throw this series as well...

Oh, and can the Angels get four outs in the bottom of the ninth for their home games too....??

You are using words that are complete abominations to the language. Gift is not a verb. Gifted is not a past participle. Gifted has been an adjective until some very bad people decided to use gift as a verb.

not particularly well, but I did.

How much sound could the ball have made by even just barely touching the dirt and how many decibel would that have been when it reached the batter's ears and compare that to the sound of the crowd reaching his ears.

You're up denial without a clue.

He never looked to see the Umps call. He immediately rolled the ball back on the field and ran for the dugout. How many times do I see catcher tag the runner anyways. He should have made sure.

Dumb move by Paul, smart move by AJ, vague call by the Ump.

63. That link more or less says that the ump blew it.
At least Denkinger in '85 had the balls to make a bad call and then stand by it. This fool actually makes the right call, then (as your link indicates) gets suckered into making the wrong call.

IMO it was the worst call since the Merkle incident. If the Angels lose the series, that call will become the most infamous since the Merkle game. (Which Keith Olbermann STILL talks about.)
