Baseball is the greatest game |
|
Cards-Astros tonight is yet another reminder that baseball is the most inspired game ever imagined by man. In the space of one pitch, a team that was on the verge of elimination kept a team that was about to end a 41-year World Series drought waiting for at least two more days--maybe even a few more years. And it all started with a little roller between short and third.
Astros fans: I feel your pain. Cards fans: congrats on the temporary stay of execution. Baseball fans: What's not to love?

1. This pain is nothing compared to |
|
when we lost to the Mets in that 16 inning game almost twenty years ago. I still haven't fully recovered from that one.

2. My God...I was in college when that game was played. |

We were huddled in my dorm room watching that. I am the world's biggest Cardinals fan, but on that day, I was pulling for the Astros.

3. Mike Scott would've pitched Game 7 |

which was an automatic win for the Stros. Ask any Met.

then why is a thread like this even necessary?
And why are baseball fans so hysterically defensive when their pastime is criticized, or labeled incomparably tedious?

8. "hysterically defensive" |
|
I haven't seen that here. I like a number of sports, basketball, football, rugby, and tennis. Each have their own appeal for me. This all comes down to personnel taste, that's all.
