Reasons why Houston must, and will lose tonight |
|
Lets face it, Houston must and will lose tonight because:
1. History. They are down by three, it just doesn't happen that often
2. They are pretenders to the crown, a wild card team, they don't deserve it. They were never closer than 11 games back of the Cards all season long.
3. They have a stupid stadium, that hill out in center field is ridiculous, cheap home run Crawford Box seats, and goofy yellow lines all over the place.
But the main reason they must lose tonight is because:
4. To avoid sending the game back to Chicago where there are always enough drunken south side idiots willing to embarrass Chicago, and baseball fans nationwide by slapping players wives, attacking coaches and umpires and the like.

3. 6. 'Stros owner Drayton McLane is a Bush** Pioneer |

http://slate.msn.com/id/2128729/Famed Texas partisan Paul Begala, a zealous convert from New Jersey, will be quick to offer a more compelling explanation—that the source of the Astros-Rove curse is Bush, not Texas. Karl Rove is a Bush creation (and vice versa). Astros owner Drayton McLane raised more than $100,000 as a Bush Pioneer in the 2004 campaign. He credits President (sic) Bush for encouraging him to buy the team.edit: italics

4. I was rooting for the Astros until last night... |
|
...when I realized that the World Series represented the struggle between Bush and Fitzgerald, and so naturally I had to switch over to supporting Chicago.
Who was sitting with Babs last night, was that GHWB?

6. Last two World Series have been won by Wild Card teams, IIRC |
|
But I want to see Chicago win in Texas. There's some sort of poetic justice there.
Go Sox!!!

10. Actually, I don't mind the hill in center field. |
|
However contrived it may be.
