A week later...the official "Vanderbilt was Screwed!!" thread... |
|
...Anyone see last week's Vanderbilt--Florida game? We were watching it, and I could not have cared less who won UNTIL Vanderbilt's last touchdown in regulation. That was THE WORST CALL in the history of college football! Anyone know what I'm talking about? It was THE WORST!
I was praying Florida would get beaten at that point. Unfortunately, they didn't.

1. Ah, the excessive celebration penalty |
|
I've seen some bad calls in my day, but that has to be the worst.
I truly believe it cost Vandy the game. And I wonder if that was the idea.

2. Gotta wonder why there hasn't been an investigation into this... |
|
...there was absolutely no celebrating, and the ref called it. Did the ref have money on Florida??

It was a horrible call. I hope Vanderbilt complained to the NCAA. The announcers were stunned.

7. As much as I dislike Florida |

Hard to feel sorry for Vanderbilt. They were playing from behind all game. It took two TDs in the final minutes just to get them to the point of the lousy celebration call. They fell behind Middle Tennessee State earlier in the year at home and lost. Yesterday they somehow eclipsed all semblance of competence by trailing Kentucky 34-3 at Vanderbilt late in the second quarter. Once again they rallied furiously and lost. Jay Cutler needs to get his act together a bit quicker.

8. If they had gone for 2 and made it and won (they had no real chance |
|
to go for two after the bogus call) it might have given them some spark that would have carried over to the rest of the year. We'll never know.
Anyway, don't follow or care for either team much, but damn, that was a lousy, lousy call.
