Lewd rap song features several Hurricanes
Short article--couldn't get the link to work...the more things change, the more they stay the same!

MIAMI (AP) -- A sexually explicit rap song performed by a group featuring several current and former Miami Hurricane football players was called "inappropriate" and "demeaning" by athletic director Paul Dee.

The nine-minute song, which describes lewd sexual acts and denigrates women, was recorded two years ago by a group calling itself The Seventh Floor Crew -- a reference to a student resident hall. Hurricanes coach Larry Coker confirmed that several players were part of the group, but he declined further comment.

"The content of the recording is unfortunate, inappropriate and demeaning," Dee said in a statement. "The university and the athletic department disapprove of the content and its references. To those who may hear this material, we apologize. Any students whose voices can be identified will be subject to appropriate discipline and-or counseling." Dee said the matter will be handled internally. He said the performance should be kept in perspective as one that took place in private and wasn't intended for public distribution.

The song surfaced on a student's blog Tuesday. Coincidentally, that same day Coker spoke of how Miami's image as an outlaw program has improved since he arrived as offensive coordinator in 1995. He became head coach in 2001. "A perception here maybe before was, 'Yeah, Miami wins a lot of games, but my son's not going there,"' Coker said. "That's not the perception anymore. Now it's, 'They win a lot of games, and I want my son to be part of that."'

1. Yeah, but we also dominate the Hungry Man commercials
Shockey, Sapp and Portis. All Canes.

Two years ago we had Brock Berlin at QB, after accepting a Gator transfer. Obviously the thinking patterns weren't exactly ideal.

2. Shockey is one of the reasons I'm no longer a Giants fan...
...usually there are guys on any team you root for that you probably don't like, but he is such a homphobic pig.

4. You might change your mind if you saw him at Giants camp in Albany

I've been there several times in recent summers. Shockey is by far the most fan friendly player, not remotely close. That's why the fans at Giants camp have #80 Shockey jerseys at least 5-fold over all other numbers combined.

The fans form a long human tunnel heading off the practice fields toward the main building at U Albany. Most of the other players run past all the autograph seekers, many of them young kids who are eager for any autograph. Some players will stop and sign a few autographs.

Shockey basically donates 15-20 minutes of his time after every practice to sign and chat with fans. He even makes a game of it, ending one set of signings and then acting like he's finished and heading toward the lockerroom amidst chants of "Shockey!" or "Jeremy!", before smiling and stopping again, inspiring cheers. Often he'll retreat to an area he bypassed earlier. I've seen him pick up little kids for pictures, letting the kid hold his helmet if able. And this is during late summer heat with two-a-day practices.

6. You're also not changing my mind
I know several people in Miami who knew Shockey well when he was there and no one has threatened to call him a jerk, in fact just the opposite. Likewise the media members in Albany, at least the two I talked to. I realize he made an idiotic comment about Parcells.

10. Hey, when I was at ND, Miami was always the "gimme" game...we'd
beat them by 40 points or so. It wasn't until the mid-80's that Miami got good--they may have won the majority of those games when ND was going through some lean years, but ND has won the vast majority since the series started.

14. Thank you, Jean Scmidt...
...the rivalry was getting out of hand. That's what happens when thugs come to a small place like South Bend.

11. Scarily accurate!
They used to sell T-shirts at the ND home games saying that, but the school put a stop to it.

12. Catholics dropped the Convicts from the schedule
When they couldn't handle them on the field. It was more like Convicts vs. Cowards.

7. Non-story.
This was done two years ago, why the outrage now? And big deal, it's just another stupid rap song like most of the genre, same old bragging crap.

Here's link to it, though it's really not worth listening to.
