3. I rooted for the Blue State team.
Seemed logical to me. I'm not a big college fan, but it made sense.
Turned out ok. :)

9. Good job SC
You got your trophy.

NOW STOP CALLING YOURSELVES BACK TO BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.

LSU won last year. You guys are a BCS school, contractually bound to the BCS system, and you classlessly threw it out the window when it didn't go your way.

Stop stealing our national championship. LSU won it last year.

BCS comittee ruled in favor of USC in their request for dual national champions. LSU and USC are 2003 Co-Champions.

Where did you see that? The BCS officially sanctioned a split NC?

I think I misread an earlier article.

Here is the story.

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3876209

What I meant to say is that the BCS allowed the title to be split and awarded LSU with their BCS title.

It's a matter of which poll to go by in awarding the "national champion" title. BCS simply said we'll go by two polls- since LSU and USC each held #1 spots, they both were awarded the title.

14. who cares about the BCS.
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 02:05 AM by goodbody
By all accounts, Oklahoma should NEVER have played for a No.l 1 spot (last year)- it would have been against USC/LSU. LSU has worsened this year, and USC kicked the living crap of Oklahoma. So, who cares about LSU.

22. I care!
Oklahoma got in last year, and USC didn't. That's what the computers decided. We can't see what LSU would have done to USC last year (like you said, we worsened this year)- so you can't say we don't matter.

13. LSU was given a token slot last year over USC
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 01:22 AM by goodbody
last year. Hey, it sucks, but it happened. It's LSU that hasn't gotten over it. USC was the No. 1 team last year in the AP, COACH polls. And, they've run the table this year.

LSU who? Who cares about LSU now. If they had a statement to make BACK-TO-BACK about last year, they didn't do it this year. BUT USC DID!!!!!!!!!!

15. Unless the Trojans will share the title with Auburn this year...
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 02:13 AM by southlandshari
...they've got no room to use the "back to back national champions" title (to hell with what the BCS may have "decided"). What's good for the goose, you know...

I'm hoping the AP will go for Auburn (though to give USC their due, they looked as good as - better than most - any pro team tonight, as they did against Notre Dame earlier this year). I just wish the two teams had a chance to meet and settle any lingering doubt, let the chips fall where they may. USC has the best offense in the country, Auburn the best defense. And they are both superior on the opposite of the ball. Got to admit, it would have to be a better game than what we saw tonight, right?

WARRRRRR EAGLE!

And an aside - I love LSU when they play anyone but Auburn (my hometown) or Georgia (my alma mater). Go Tigers!

A team that would rip Auburn to shreds.

Watch the Fiesta Bowl video, and try to tell me any different.

20. Auburn almost choked during the Sugar
they have NO claim to a No. 1 spot - NONE. There is no "lingering doubt" about Auburn after their bowl performance this year, except in the minds of Auburn fans who want to cling to a lousy 3 point win (that they almost let slip away!)

As far as back-to-back champions, if anything, it's Oklahoma that didn't belong in the national championship game last year - USC belonged there instead!

USC beat the living crap out of their heavily-favored contender, Oklahoma. Auburn looked like it barely belonged in the bowl they were playing in. USC = back to back national champions.

16. I was a doubter
I'll admit it. I thought USC was way overrated and played in a creampuff conference.

I was completely wrong. Congrats to the Trojans.

19. "Creampuff conference."?
When will the eastern bias against the Pac-10 end?

A bunch of second stringers from ASU took Purdue out. Oregon State pounded Notre Dame.

Yeah, Cal didn't come to play. And that's all the more clear now that we've seen USC pound Oklahoma. USC got lucky as hell to get by Cal.

The Pac-10 is a tough conference. Don't let the idiots in the mainstream press tell you any different.

so I was happy to see UCS beat the hell out of Oklahoma. Ty Willingham will have my Huskies back within 3 years.
