1. Wait...
One bad year and you deserve to be fired? How does that work? Or is it that Packers fans have short-term memories.

2. He lost two home playoff games
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 01:45 PM by akarnitz
in the last 3 playoff seasons, he was an uninspired play-caller(though slighty better than offensive coordinator Tom Rossley), and he made as many bad challenges as Martz. Fans are still pissed at his drafts and free agent signings(a third round pick for a crappy punter, Joe Jackson). This was an opportune moment to let him go.

That said, Sherman still gets my respect for confronting Warren Sapp after the cheap-shot(albeit legal one)on Chad Clifton. That was a very fine moment in Sherman's tenure.

edited for lack of concentration

8. I liked the Sapp incident too.
I used to think W. Sapp was a classy guy until he challenged Sherm to a fight. Real dickheaded moment in Sapp's career.

5. A decent coach would have gotten them farther in each of the years
that he was head coach.

I thought he should have been fired 3 years ago.

4. I've been back and forth on this one.

firing your HC is only a good idea if you find a better HC. and
it remains to be seen if that will happen.

sherman was very respected by his players, although you may have
wondered where the love was during the grady jackson brouhaha this
year, and the mike mckenzie flare up last season.

GB went 4-12 because everyone but favre and driver were injured,
and you can't really blame that on the HC.

having said all that, you had to know that it was just a matter
of time before thompson brought his own guy in.
