I detect a definite media bias against Texas. |
|
Yes I do.
No excited comments when Texas scores.
Timmy Brown in the half time BS.
Poor coverage of the best college band in the world.
Hollywood politicians!

division between Texans and real life, ya know? I'm a native, and we've never fit in. Thank Longhorns!
ps .. the world is not a fair place. Don't expect it to be.

3. Real life don't count - and take off your hat in the Alamo |

Ya know, everything is BIGGER and more beautiful in Texas ("Home of George W. Bush", says the billboard when you cross the state line)... Here the sun shines brighter, the electrons are more negative, and the people talk louder.
And half of Texas will always look like a wasteland.

2. The media love a story |
|
a Three-peat (tm Pat Riley) is the story they want. Now, if Texas pulls the upset they will hype the hell out of that as well.

4. Totally Different Opinion |
|
All the commentators could talk about was Texas' defense and how USC could not stop Vince Young. Thoughout the whole game the commentators were commending the Texas team. It seemed to me that they barely complimentated the USC team.

5. I couldn't hear a lot of it because it was really loud where we watched it |
|
but I did get a little tired of seeing Matt Leinart's dad over and over without any corresponding close-ups of Vince Young's mother.
It seemed like they gave equal time to the bands, though they called the Longhorn Band, "The Show Band of the West," when it's actually "The Show Band of the Southwest." (My husband was in the Longhorn Band when I met him 31 years ago! He's a trumpet player. :) )
I recorded the game and plan to watch it again so I'll have to note what was actually said this time!

6. I don't think it was necessarily bias . . . |
|
I think most MSM commentators had predicted a USC victory. they were just protecting their psychic "investment".
besides, it turned into a vince young love fest before it was over.

7. Yeah, the commentators were definitely for USC. |
|
I'm not a fan of either team (Proud Sooner here), but I could definitely detect the bias. Keith Jackson is a jerk who doesn't like Big 12 teams anyway, so I don't know why the old buzzard even got the assignment.
