2. My gut reaction is that if they had made it to a BCS Bowl and |
|
won, he'd still be there.

3. at least they did it before the 15th |

10. You're correct, but the sad thing is that we probably will eventually |
|
find out if he can fire a gun...what a waste.

Does anyone think any NFL team will actually want him. It seems to me he is not all that great of a football player. Add to that the fact that he is a problem player who does not seem to want to become a better person I do not see any reason to take a chance on him.

I guess this might be considered a stupid question, but I was never able to get the full story. I know Vick gave a minor alcohol; however, I was never able to get the full story of whether he actually slept with the girl. At first I thought he had slept with the girl, but he was only suspended from the team and after he came back to the team announcers only said he had been suspended for giving a minor alcohol not alcohol and sex with a minor. upon reading the news about Vick being kicked off the team I read that fans had called him a child molester and a rapist. So, can someone fill me in on exactly what happened?

15. Recently he intentionally tried to injure an opposing player |
|
It was flagrant, in front of the TV cameras and everything. That was the last straw, I guess.

Why should thugs be allowed to play college football when that type of behavior isn't allowed in public? Think about it, would Vick be able to just stomp on a guys calf with a cleat and not be punished in the real world? Of course not.
Props to VaTech for doing the right thing and booting his sorry ass off the team.

17. it's sad. the kid obviously has problems. |
|
now he's going to be a kid with problems and a pocket full of money. there's probably nothing in store for this kid than more heartache for his mother.
at least VT did the right thing. I figured they would; they are a quality program. although they may have not been on their best behavior during the gator bowl.
I was having beers with a friend that is a VT alumnus when all this started breaking. he was only surprised that it took as long as it did.

18. yeah, they did the right thing |

after they'd milked him for another game. Frank Beamer knew, according to the Washington Post today, that Vick had been stopped for driving with a suspended license in December. Beamer apparently knew this on December 28, and didn't bother to tell the Athletic Director until January 5 when the story hit the local news. A simple oversight, I'm sure, since Beamer knew Vick was on last strike probation, and would be kicked off the team the next time he got in trouble with the law. a quality program would have suspended him for the bowl game, not let him play the game and then kicked him out. (according to this article, the stomping incident was going to lead to a two game suspension, the legal action got him booted from the team)

19. I thought that was an odd chain of events, too. |
|
beamer knew about the driving while suspended, but not the speeding. according to the article I read, it was a two game suspension until that came to light. seems to me that speeding is definitely the lesser of the two charges, and the straw that broke the camel's back was mighty small.
whatever the case, he's gone now. there's not much consistency in the NCAA regarding this sort of stuff. a player from arkansas state was allowed to play in one of the early bowls despite a charge of (iirc) battery on an officer.

20. and I notice Beamer didn't look into the speeding allegation |
|
he didn't ask Vick, did he? the reason the speeding/suspended license was the killer was the deal under which Vick was readmitted to VPU last January, he was told that the next time he had any sort of legal trouble, he would be off the team. If Beamer had told the AD that Vick had the suspended license infraction, he would likely have beed booted immediately.
