He was never a big game player in college and still isn't.
With the game on the line, his first pass goes straight to a Washington linebacker.

1. If TB's #86 had caught Simms' brilliant throw earlier in the |

4th quarter(an inexcusable drop), you wouldn't be posting this. I thought Simms played okay.

3. I wonder if TB Offensive Line blockers made any adjustments to try to |

prevent the tipped passes.
The Redskin rusher who tipped the last pass was being double-teamed. You'd think one of the TB blockers might have tried some technique to hinder effective tipping of a Simms pass, e.g. repeated quick thrusting into the defender to upset timing of jumps with upstretched arms (especially given the tips had been ongoing all game!)
There were FIVE tipped passes, at least two that led to interceptions.
Did Simms have this problem all year...or was Washington defensive line just very well-prepared/coached for this game?

4. Yeah, he did that at UT, too. |
|
We could have won a national title his senior year if we'd have started Major Applewhite, but Mack Brown had promised Phil he'd start him, and nothing could change his mind. Simms could beat up on Baylor, but when they played good teams (I think twice) they lost. He padded his numbers with weak defenses and a talented team, so he looked good for the draft.
Condolences to Bucs fans.

5. I thought it wasn't all Simms' fault, either. |

The Redskins are peaking. TB lost to some real crappy teams this year. Very inconsistent (due in part, but not completely, to their QB).
Chris Simms played a lot better than Eli Manning (if's that's any consolation).

6. hell, Simms played a lot better than Mark Brunell |
|
the Skins defense was just a little bit more opportunistic (and a little bit luckier) than the Bucs.

8. Yeah, and he's probably not being paid anywhere near Eli's salary... |
|
...The Bucs are young, was bound to happen. Wish they had won, but I woudn't write off Sims just yet.

7. Where's Major Applewhite when you need him? |
|
HA! Actually he just left Syracuse for offensive coordinator job at Rice. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2284752
