Poll question: How about the line on Steelers - Colts? |
|
Everything I see has the Colts by 9 1/2 points. I've got the irrational fan blinders on, so I'm in no position to judge, but what do the rest of you think?

1. Went with "just about right" I think Indy will win by 10, but it |
|
won't be as close as that--you know, letting Pittsburgh score at the end, etc. I sort of hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I will be.

3. The line has nothing to do with how much you win by. |
|
The line is set to the point where the bookies will get money bet on both sides of the game. Quite frankly if the line were set by what they think the score will be the Colts would be favored by at least 17-20. It's going to be a blowout unless they take Manning's knees early.

6. I like it when bookies think |
|
That's when you can pounce. Inevitably they are failed bettors who switched to the other side because they couldn't win without taking the 11/10 instead of giving it. I could detail dozens of examples when they got cute and relied on their own numbers and got burned bigtime.
Right now the thinking is almost gone. Corporate mindset has taken over and the oldtime bookmakers who used to run Nevada sportsbooks have been replaced by empty suits who literally got promoted from the beverage department or similar. They just wait for the line service they pay for to release the number then they put it up like a clapping seal.
I figured the Colts at -11 for the opening round playoff game. It's slightly lower because Pittsburgh earns respect via recent playoff history. I'm going to have the Colts in some form, probably in the first half. It fits my first half anti-revenge theory since Indy whacked Pittsburgh already this year. Show up and get reminded of that reality with a quick belt to the jaw. This is Indy's year.
