Palmers Injuries May be Career Ending
It seems ironic that weeks after getting a major contract extension Palmer suffers an injury that could end his career. The story was reported by Fox Sports.

1. And on a cheap shot to boot.
I don't care what anyone says, that dude definitely went for his knees. It was a dirty play.

I don't think it's a career ender though it did have the potential, he had the surgery and everything is reported to be fine. The surgeon expects him to be ready for the first game next season.

2. I doubt it
It wasn't as bad as Robert Edwards' injury a few years back, and he was still able to come back at an NFL level as a running back - even if his productivity was significantly reduced. A good comp might be Willis McGahee. He might not be full speed for another 12-18 months, but I'd be very surprised if we've seen the last of Carson Palmer.

3. I bet that he will be ok.
However, it sure would be sad if it ended his career. The guy has HOFer written all over him.

6. How about some context and a story?
The team announced that he had torn the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments. The damage was much more extensive and severe, but Dr. Lonnie Paulos said surgery went well and Palmer could be back for the start of the season.

{snip}

"It's not just like it was a torn ACL," Paulos said Thursday, in a phone interview from Houston. "It's a magnitude more difficult to recover from and repair. It can and has ended careers, without a doubt.

"However, I feel very comfortable with Carson as an athlete and the heart that he's got. In the end, that's the bottom line. I can see the look in his eye already. He's ready to get going," he said.

7. It was a misquote
ESPN has been saying that he's doing fine, and should be back for next season.

the doctor was referring to that kind of injury in GENERAL with regards to career-ending, not palmers in particular

9. the doctor clairfied his remarks the next day

as described by realisticphish.

the doctor mangled the interview worse than that defensive lineman
mangle palmer's knee.
